If God loves me and the world, why is He allowing this terrible thing to happen? A loving parent wouldn't stand by while their child suffers, so why would an all-loving God?

Prayer might feel like talking to an empty room. When immediate, tangible help is desperately needed, the lack of a visible or instant response from God can translate into a feeling of utter isolation and abandonment.

God's faithfulness means He always keeps His promises and carries out His purposes. Unlike humans who may lie, forget, or lack the power to fulfill a commitment, God's nature is constant. The reliability of the universe itself is often tied to His faithfulness (Psalm 119:90).

Even when circumstances look devastating, God's faithfulness means He will never stop being loving, just, good, and merciful. He cannot "disown Himself" (2 Timothy 2:13).

When life feels chaotic and people let us down, God's faithfulness is presented as the only truly stable anchor. As the book of Lamentations says, "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (Lamentations 3:22-23).

In short, human faith wavers, especially in the face of suffering, but the belief is that God's faithfulness never wavers. It's the assurance that even if we are unfaithful, He remains steadfastly loyal to His own nature and His long-term covenant with humanity.
