The Land Transportation Office (LTO), under the leadership of Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon, preventively suspended for 90 days the driverโs license of a rider who made a show while stuck in traffic on a public road, the incident went viral on social media.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said a show cause order was already issued to the rider and registered owner of the motorcycle in line with the directive of President Ferdinand โBongbongโ R. Marcos, Jr. to run after erring motorists.
In the social media post, the rider, a resident of Binondo, Manila, was seen standing and dancing on a top of a motorcycle while temporarily stopped in traffic.
The incident, according to the LTO, appeared to have taken place on a public roadway and in full view of other motorists and pedestrians.
In the SCO signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division, Chief Renante Melitante, the rider was asked to explain in writing why he should not be held liable for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle, which has a maximum penalty of revocation of driverโs license.
The hearing was set on August 20 and Melitante said the rider was directed to surrender his driverโs license on or before the scheduled date.
โFailure to appear and submit the written comment/explanation as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,โ the SCO read. #
