Many times we might believe that Jesus will never understand our struggles, but we forget that He was also human. Maundy Thursday reminds us of Jesus’ deep anguish in the Garden of Gethsemane, as He faced the cross and the weight of the sins of the world. In His turmoil, He cried out to God in prayer in Matthew 26:39, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.”
But despite His fears, Jesus stayed anchored in God in obedience. Jesus shows us that true faith is not the absence of fear, but the choice to trust and obey God in the midst of it. In times of uncertainty, how have you fixed your eyes on Jesus even when you are afraid?
