Grateful to have been part of From Plates to Pages: A Gastronomic Dialogue and Tasting Feast last May 21 at the Le Cordon Bleu Ateneo de Manila University in partnership with Simpol.PH and Anvil Publishing — an experience that deepened my appreciation for the richness and diversity of Filipino food and storytelling.

One reflection that stayed with me is the importance of viewing Filipino cuisine through a regional lens. Across the Philippines, there are countless dishes, flavors, and culinary traditions still waiting to be discovered — each region carrying its own identity, history, and stories worth preserving and experiencing.

It was truly enlightening to gain insights from people who share a deep love and advocacy for Filipino food: Ige Ramos, Chef Cyrille Soenen, Liza Hernandez-Morales, Dr. Fernando Cialzita, and Chef Tatung Sarthou. Conversations like these remind us that food is more than sustenance — it is memory, culture, identity, and community.

Looking forward to exploring more of the stories behind Filipino cuisine, one plate at a time. 🍽️📚

A little late, but definitely worth sharing. 📚✨

Last April 30, I had the opportunity to attend the Young Creatives Challenge (YC2) Season 2 – Regular Edition: Graphic Novel Category awarding and recognition ceremony held at Meridian International College - MINT College through Malikhaing Pinoy by the Department of Trade and Industry

From witnessing live readings to hearing winners share the stories and creative journeys behind their work, it was inspiring to see the passion, talent, and imagination of young Filipino creators firsthand.

Being surrounded by fellow creatives, readers, and advocates for storytelling was a meaningful reminder of the importance of supporting spaces that amplify young voices and original stories.

Congratulations to all the winners and participants of YC2 Season 2’s Graphic Novel Category—your creativity and stories deserve to be celebrated. 👏📖

Special thanks to Talk Bookish To Me PH Bookclub for this oppurtunity ✨

✨ Dreams of Reading and Writing in the Philippines: A Book Buddies PH Forum ✨

I had the privilege of participating as a speaker last February 27 in the Book Buddies PH forum at the University of the Philippines School of Statistics Library, and it was such an inspiring, cozy, and intimate experience.

Being able to share my thoughts as a reader—and seeing the audience resonate with them—was truly fulfilling. Hearing comments like “I like what you said, you’re funny” or “I agree, the content of local books is our edge” made me feel seen and connected.

Beyond that, the forum made me reflect on the privilege of accessing books, attending book fairs, and enjoying spaces that nurture reading. Many people don’t get the chance to explore fiction and other forms of literature, and I hope more libraries in the Philippines can offer not just academic and reference materials, but also the joy of reading stories that teach us empathy, imagination, and life lessons.

It was inspiring to meet incredible writers who are not only talented but also genuinely kind, and to nerd out with fellow book lovers who share the same passion.

Moments like these remind me why I love reading—and why I want to share this privilege with others. 📚❤️
