Grateful to have been part of From Plates to Pages: A Gastronomic Dialogue and Tasting Feast last May 21 at the Le Cordon Bleu Ateneo de Manila University in partnership with Simpol.PH and Anvil Publishing — an experience that deepened my appreciation for the richness and diversity of Filipino food and storytelling.
One reflection that stayed with me is the importance of viewing Filipino cuisine through a regional lens. Across the Philippines, there are countless dishes, flavors, and culinary traditions still waiting to be discovered — each region carrying its own identity, history, and stories worth preserving and experiencing.
It was truly enlightening to gain insights from people who share a deep love and advocacy for Filipino food: Ige Ramos, Chef Cyrille Soenen, Liza Hernandez-Morales, Dr. Fernando Cialzita, and Chef Tatung Sarthou. Conversations like these remind us that food is more than sustenance — it is memory, culture, identity, and community.
Looking forward to exploring more of the stories behind Filipino cuisine, one plate at a time. 🍽️📚
