𝗔𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗥 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

Student candidates at the University of Rizal System–Rodriguez Campus (URSR) took turns defending their positions on leadership and social issues during the 2026 Meeting de Avance, held at the Pedro S. Cuerpo (PSC) Ground.

Rather than simply presenting campaign platforms, the candidates were challenged through a series of question-and-answer activities designed to give students a closer look at their views and proposed programs

The event was mounted by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) with USSG Adviser Hector Rubiales III. Julia Louella Sabandal and Kevin Orpilla served as hosts for the program.

Attendance and participation continued despite changing weather conditions, as students endured both the afternoon heat and rain while following the candidates and supporting their respective partylist groups.

Through the exchange of platforms, positions, and responses, the forum gave the URSR student body additional basis for evaluating the candidates ahead of the elections and emphasized the importance of informed choices in student governance.

𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗖𝗼𝗕 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗗𝗘 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

Excellence in research took center stage as faculty members of the University of Rizal System earned notable distinctions at the 20th Research and Development and Extension (RDE) Congress held on August 20, 2026.

Under the theme, “20 Years of Advancing Knowledge, Inspiring Innovation, and Transforming Communities,” the annual congress brought together research and extension initiatives that contribute to academic advancement and meaningful community development.

Among the recognized researchers were Dr. Analyn V. Inarda, who secured 2nd Place, and Prof. Michael L. Protacio, who placed 3rd in the Best Descriptive Research Category.

Dr. Inarda was recognized for her study, “Eco-Guilt and Eco-Responsibility: An Explanatory Sequential Mixed-Methods Study of Emotional and Moral Drivers of Solid Waste Management Practices.”

Meanwhile, Prof. Protacio earned his distinction through his research entitled, “Financial Capability of 4P’s Beneficiaries in Barangay San Jose, Rodriguez Rizal: Basis in The Creation of Extension Program Towards Self-Sufficiency.”

Their achievements stand as an epitome of the dedication, innovation, and commitment to excellence embodied by the URS faculty, particularly in producing research that addresses pressing concerns in sustainability, financial capability, and community development.

Beyond the recognition, their accomplishments reflect the continuing pursuit of knowledge and service that strengthens the university’s role in creating meaningful and transformative contributions to society.

The University of Rizal System Rodriguez (URSR) campus buzzed with energy as it officially welcomed the newest batch of Iskolar ng Bayan during the Freshmen Orientation 2026. Held from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the event served as the official launchpad for incoming students, immersing them in the university's dynamic culture of academic excellence and community engagement.

USSG President Slahv Mancile led the proceedings, guiding the freshmen through a comprehensive introduction to university life. Campus Director Dr. Florante J. Mercado set the tone with an inspiring address, urging the new students to navigate their collegiate journey with integrity and resilience. As the event concluded, the freshmen left equipped with the knowledge and excitement to begin their transformative journey as true-blooded URSRians.

𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬: 𝐂𝐎𝐁 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐑 𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌𝐎 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The URSR Giants Emergency Response Team (GERT) was named Overall Champion and bagged the Best in Muse Award, and 1st place in Bandaging and Splinting Relay at the MDRRMO Rescue Olympics 2026 (UMIKLOS) held July 24 at the Montalban Sports Complex, besting BDRRMO San Jose, BDRRMO San Isidro, CSO Rizal Rescue, and Kabalikat through outstanding teamwork, discipline, and composure under pressure during a series of disaster response and rescue challenges that tested the participants’ preparedness and coordination in simulated calamity scenarios.

Proudly among the champions are College of Business students Mr. Jerick Montenegro and Ms. Althea Baltazar of BSBA Marketing Management, along with Mr. Keith Balcita and Ms. Maria Angelica Gono of BSBA Human Resource Management, whose participation reflects the same discipline, teamwork, and excellence that COB continues to instill in its students — bringing further pride and honor not just to URSR, but to the College of Business as well.
