The newly elected officials of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) formally took their oath of office during the induction ceremony held at the FCU Multipurpose Hall, July 30.

Leading the CTE student republic is Governor Hannah Jean Abisan, who shared her commitment to continue the legacy of past leaders while introducing new initiatives for the academic year.

"My goal is to unite leaders with one vision, empower future educators with purpose, and lead with action, integrity, and impact," Abisan said.

Abisan also emphasized that her term is not about reinventing everything but about strengthening what already works. "I aim to make a difference not by changing everything, but by building on the solid foundation left by the previous term," she added.

Also inducted during the ceremony were local officers and representatives from other departments, with the event spearheaded by the Filamer Christian University Student Republic (FCUSR) Nationals.

| SOS from the Back Row
by 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒊

Seat No. 43.
Near the broken fan.
The corner where the light doesn’t quite reach.

They always start with,
"Good morning, class!"
but never say my name.

I don’t blame them.
I haven’t raised my hand since June.

The worksheet in front of me says:
"𝘓𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘧𝘰𝘳."
I write:
1. Sky.
2. Silence.
3. Kung may sud-an kami kag indi kan-on lang.
4. Kung makapuli na si Mama kag ubos iya mga baligya.
5. Nagbugtaw ko kaina sang aga.

I kept my pen away,
one with its ends bitten off.
It's a habit I had developed.
I handed my paper back to the teacher.

My notebook is mostly drawings.
A house with a roof that doesn’t leak.
A family eating dinner 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.
A boy holding a medal.

Sometimes the lesson sounds like wind.
It blows past me.
I try to catch the words, but they keep flying forward.

My heart drops every time they say, “Volunteers?”
I stare at my shoes,
hoping they’ll have an answer
because I don't.

I haven't eaten today.
Again.
But I smile when I say "present."
It's the only thing I seem to get right.

My uniform's too tight now.
I grew. The fabric didn’t.
But it's okay.
I'm getting really good at pretending I'm comfortable.

We were asked to write an essay:
"𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽?"

I wanted to write:
"𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦."
But I wrote:
"Teacher."

Because they like that answer.
Because she looks tired,
and 𝘮𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘢𝘺.

Because maybe if I become her,
someone will sit in the back and still feel seen.
And I'll say, "Good morning!" everytime.
And I'll mean it.

JULY 2, 2025 — The FCU Gym transformed once more into a vessel of dreams fulfilled and futures ignited, as the graduates of Batch Lakas-Alpha stepped onto the stage—not just as students, but as changemakers ready to face the world beyond the classroom walls.

With every name called and every diploma handed, the air pulsed with pride and promise. Laughter rang out, tears quietly fell, and warm embraces were shared beneath the soaring lights of the gymnasium. This was more than a ceremony; it was a celebration of grit, growth, and the collective heartbeat of a class that rose through challenges with strength true to their name.

This year, the College of Teacher Education proudly recognizes 1 𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘦, 4 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘯𝘢 𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘴, 1 𝘤𝘶𝘮 𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 2 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘴—a shining testament to the intellectual brilliance, perseverance, and heart-driven service of this graduating class.

They leave behind footprints for the next to follow and carry with them the light of Filamerian excellence. May they go forth as educators and leaders who not only teach minds, but also touch hearts and transform lives.

Mabuhay, Class of 2025! Your journey is just beginning, and the world is ready for your strength.

JUNE 24, 2025 — With hearts swelling with pride and eyes set on the future, the College of Teacher Education gathered at the FCU Roblee Hall to celebrate the unwavering commitment and excellence of its students during the much-awaited Recognition Program for the Academic Year 2024–2025.

The program commenced with a graceful processional—awardees, faculty, and proud parents walking down the aisle not just in formality, but as a quiet tribute to the perseverance, sacrifice, and silent victories that brought them to this day of recognition.

Dr. Jonathan P. Leal, Dean of the College, delivered an inspiring message to the awardees of Batch 2024–2025 and Batch Lakas Alpha. He reminded them that success is never born of chance, but of steadfast discipline and an enduring heart. Their presence on that stage, he said, was not just a result of achievement, but of character forged in moments unseen.

Tears of gratitude and messages of gratefulness filled the venue as the seven latin and highest academic awardees of Batch Lakas Alpha shared their stories of hope, moments of uncertainty and recounting trials which strengthened them and ultimately led them to this point of success.

As the ceremony drew to a close, applause echoed throughout the hall, celebrating not just achievements but also the strength built by experiences. What began as a simple event evolved into a powerful celebration of passion, purpose, and power of dreams and a reminder that the future belongs to those who dare to keep striving.

Leal, who reflected on the internship experience as more than just a requirement, but a transformative chapter where seeds of patience, persistence, and purpose are sown. He commended the student interns for their resilience and compassion, acknowledging how each classroom encounter has shaped them into educators of impact and integrity.

A special address was then delivered by Dr. Gladys B. Barolo, an esteemed alumna of the college, who shared stories of her own teaching journey marked by trials, triumphs, and unwavering commitment. Her words served as both encouragement and reminder that the heart of teaching lies in continuous reflection, lifelong learning, and the courage to lead with empathy.

The awarding of exemplary interns and outstanding demonstrators followed, a proud moment of recognition for those who went above and beyond in their field assignments. As names were called and awards were received, the hall echoed with applause, not only for individual achievements but for the shared journey they all undertook.

As the program wrapped up, the freshmen’s voices united in a powerful rendition of “Liwanag sa Dilim,” symbolizing hope shining through the gloom—evoking courage, steadfastness, and a sense of mission.
