The St. Anthony College of Roxas City, inc. conducted the 62nd Capping and Candle lighting ceremony, an honored tradition in nursing education that symbolizes a pivotal transition for students. The ceremony serves as a celebration of the studentsโ perseverance, growth, and love for the nursing profession. They have proven themselves worthy of wearing the cap and pin that essentially shows off that they are capable nurses.
Anchored on the theme โVincentian-Anthonian Nurses: Bearing the Flame of Service, Living Synodality as Pilgrims of Hope,โ this yearโs ceremony reminded the students of their calling to serve with compassion, faith, and unity. The theme reflects the Vincentian-Anthonian values of walking together in service, carrying the light of hope wherever their journey as nurses may lead them.
During the ceremony, Rev. Fr. Christian Bernard Delfin shared an inspiring reminder, saying that one does not need to join searches or pageants to receive a crown, for today, they receive their own, one that symbolizes duty and responsibility. He also added that the students will soon become the guiding lights in the dark halls of the hospital, illuminating every place they serve with care and compassion. His words resonated deeply, reminding everyone that true honor is not found in titles or recognition, but in serving others wholeheartedly and being a source of light in times of need.
The highlight of the program was the solemn placing of the nurseโs cap on each studentโs head, a symbolic act that signifies their acceptance of the responsibilities and challenges that come with the profession. As their candles were lit, the ceremony was filled with a quiet sense of purpose and devotion. The gentle light symbolized the studentsโ pledge to uphold the values of compassion, empathy, and humility in their calling.
For the nursing students, receiving the cap and pin is more than just a ceremony, itโs a milestone that recognizes their hard work and marks their transition from learning theory to applying it in real life care. It is a proud moment that welcomes them into the sisterhood and brotherhood of nurses, a bond built on service, compassion, and shared purpose.
The Saint Anthony College of Nursing continues to serve as a nurturing ground for future healthcare professionals. Ceremonies like this not only celebrate the studentsโ achievements but also highlight the institutionโs commitment to forming nurses who embody both skill and heart that are ready to bring hope, healing, and light to every life they touch.
To the BSN Class of 2028 โBatch Baylanโ, congratulations on this remarkable milestone in your nursing journey.
Onwards, Vincentian-Anthonians! ๐
