BETTER FUTURE FOR CAPIZ TRIAKSYON

“Next year, we will deliver a Capiz TriAksyon experience unlike any other in the history of triathlon.”

This was said by Capiz International Triathlon TriAksyon race director, Pyt Trimañez in an exclusive interview with the Junior Purisimian Publication adviser, Mr. Normandy Balasa and two staff members yesterday at People’s Park, Baybay together with fellow race director, Pepe Borres; Coach Oliver Portillano; national triathlon coach, Melvin Fausto; and 2017 TriAksyon Man, John Leerams Chicano.

The swim, bike, and run event proved to be a huge success last year after its initial launch. The triathlon meet also provided the province the opportunity to flaunt its rich culture and breathtaking scenery which attracted not only the sports enthusiasts but inviting tourists as well. This year, TriAksyon is pulling off something better by offering a much more scenic appeal by adding the first sandy line finish line at the Baybay Beach.

TriAksyon also provided free mentoring clinic for the aspiring triathletes, in order for them to hone their triathlon prowess under the guidance of triathlon national coach, Melvin Fausto (a coach for 12 years and 8 years for his prodigy, Chicano) and triathlon champion, John Leerams Chicano with local coaches.

Trimañez says that we could expect a much bigger TriAksyon event not only next year, but for the future installments as well. The team behind the success of TriAksyon is aiming to create a whole new and unique experience for the event next year. They also hope that with the improvements that they will impose, Capiz TriAksyon will garner worldwide attention.

The TriAksyon 2018 event will officially start tomorrow and will end on Sunday, April 15.

TriAksyon: Capiz Triathlon Clinic, Final Day

The Capiz Triathlon Clinic made an astounding end to their 3 day cliniquing.

The last day of the Triathlon clinic started with an opening briefing, 7 am at People's Park, Baybay before proceeding to the swim leg, in which the participants applied the drills they learned at the pool the day before.

Afterwards, the participants rode to Villareal Stadium to resume swimming with Coach Melvin Fausto guiding them.

At around noon, Mr. Pepe Borres and John Leerams Chicano along with 2 other coaches, Coach Melvin Fausto and Coach Oliver Portillano, gave their thanks and inspired the triathletes with their stories and motivating words to continue training and achieving.

Along with the pleasantries came the giving of certificates to the participants for attending the informative clinic, sending them home with certificates in their hands, pride in their hearts and perseverance in their minds.

CPC ALL SET FOR TRIAKSYON 2018

As the much awaited 2018 TriAksyon International Triathlon draws near, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion’s team of up and coming triathletes are in their final stretch of gearing up for the said event which is about to take place on April 14-15 alongside the province’s celebration of Capiztahan.

Seven CPC High School students will battle it out in the upcoming Swim, Bike, and Run event. Ryan Arlante, Glenn Maquiran Jr., Dale Ferreras, and Peter John Alado will be representing the school in the Sprint Distance. Meanwhile, Cleo Yvon Sarrosa and Chris Ivan Delfin will be participating in the Relay Category. Last year’s Sprint Distance 4th Placer, Ivan Lexter Acuña hopes to make a successful comeback as he steps it up by joining the Standard Distance Category.

Training for the upcoming triathlon started in mid-February. The triathletes focused on how balancing swimming, biking, and running as triathlon combines them in a single event. They also worked on improving their speed and endurance. With the D-day approaching fast, they are now easing up training so that they would not strain themselves for the race.

As for Acuña who opted for another category this year, he has full hopes for the race. “This year, I’ll be joining the standard category which means I’ll be doing full distance. The upcoming race will also serve as a warm-up for a triathlon meet i’ll be participating soon in Guimaras. Aside from that, my ultimate goal is to take a spot on the podium at the end of the race that’s why I am training hard right now.” He said.

CPC wishes all the triathletes the best of luck for the upcoming race. May the team successfully deliver and bring more pride to their alma mater.
