The Islander Prawn mourns the passing of our school head, Ma’am Felomina V. Alanis. She stood behind this publication and kept a constant trust in what her students could become—even during its lowest points.

May she be remembered for the certainty she placed in others, and for all that she gave, seen and unseen.

𝘾𝙊𝙇𝙇𝘼𝘽𝙊𝙍𝘼𝙏𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙐𝙈𝙋𝙃

Nasugbu, Batangas became part of The Islander Prawn’s new feat as we competed in the MIMAROPA Regional Schools Press Conference 2026, carrying with us the same purpose that has always guided our work—to tell stories with integrity and intention.

In the School Paper Category, the publication attained:
- 2nd Best Sports Page
- 4th Best Feature Page
- 5th Best Opinion Page
- 8th Best Layout & Page Design
Overall 4th Best School Paper

For Collaborative Desktop Publishing (Secondary English), the team achieved:
- 2nd Best Sports Page
- 3rd Best Feature Page
Overall 5th Place

These overall placements reflect the same standings earned during the RSPC 2025 in Tagaytay City.

We express our deepest appreciation to our writers, editors, coaches, school administrators, and everyone who supported us throughout this journey. Your guidance and belief fortify our resolve to uphold the standards of meaningful campus journalism.

The work spoke first. The recognition followed. The Islander Prawn emerges as SDO Palawan’s Best School Paper in Secondary English at the Division Schools Press Conference 2025, built on persistence, patience, and an insistence on saying things right.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our writers, editors, advisers, school administrators, and every guiding hand who continued to trust a voice tempered by practice. This recognition rests on work carried by more than one name.

Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2025 participants carried forward our commitment to careful fact-checking, thoughtful organization of ideas, and reporting that reflects both clarity and consideration. Awards recognize some, however, every effort contributes to the publication’s standard and the larger mission of campus journalism. Their work moves forward to RSPC—best of luck, and may it make as strong an impact there.

Auditions for aspiring Radiobroadcasting (RB) members will now begin at 4 p.m. onwards, instead of the previously scheduled 5:00–6:00 p.m. Venue remains Palay Room 2. See you there, Prawners! 🦐✨

The Islander Prawn is opening the floor for this year’s Radiobroadcasting Team. This is for those who speak with weight, who write like it costs something. For the ones who carry stories in their throat, and for those still learning how sound can hold truth.
