โ€Ž๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐†. ๐Œ๐šรฑ๐š๐ฅ๐ž, a 25-year old college student from Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City, radiates his unbounded enthusiasm in education will be graduating this coming June 20, 2025 with the degree Bachelor of Science in Fisheries from the State of University of Northern Negros.

โ€ŽLife as a person with disability is not easy. Aside from his disability he also experienced difficulties because his parents were not with him to guide him since high school. However, he has his grandmother to stay with.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽFurthermore, his determination and dedication are truly an inspiration despite the numerous challenges he faced throughout his life. His capabilities as a person with a disability and as a son longing for his parents' love and guidance ignite the fire in his heart to continue his college journey and achieve his goals.

โ€ŽThe story of Christian G. Maรฑale serves as an example to value education despite difficulties because education is a key to opportunities that challenge misconceptions about a person with a disability towards success.

โ€ŽThe students were actively learning, adapting, and handling the experiences and challenges that come with their On-the-Job Training (OJT) at ๐—ฆ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ, a food processing plant located in Brgy. Dos Hermanas, Talisay City.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽAs part of their training in the field of Fisheries, the students were assigned to various areas within the plant, including the receiving area, production area, pasteurization area, and packing area. These assignments allowed them to gain hands-on experience in seafood handling, processing techniques, and quality control measures essential to the fisheries and aquaculture industry.

โ€ŽA wonderful experience for the 4th year in their OJT at Danjugan Island Marine Reserve and Sanctuary located in Barangay Punta Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental. Not only did they get to practice the knowledge they had gained, but they got to see the beauty of their field. From the chirping of birds to the depth of the sea, a reason to conserve & protect the beauty of nature.

โ€ŽThe practical activities were Bird Watching and Documentation, Mangrove Identification and survey, nursery operations involving beach forest species, giant clam garden, snorkeling, seagrass assessment, and Fish Catch Data Survey.

โ€ŽSecond-year Fisheries recently completed their practicum on cast net fishing under Dr. Dina Lagutin (course professor), one of the most traditional and essential fishing methods. The practicum started with basic lessons on the parts and proper handling of the net, followed by land practice and actual throws in shallow water.

โ€ŽThis hands-on experience helped us students appreciate the hard work of traditional fishers and emphasized the importance of ethical fishing practices
