𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: Fourth year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students, together with BEEd faculty extensionists of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC), spearheaded a Reading Remediation Program at Sevilla Elementary School (SES) under the Adopt-a-School initiative and Project STRIDE, August 14.

The program aimed to support struggling readers through targeted and engaging literacy interventions, which target to strengthen their foundational skills.

SES principal, Dr. Jonalyn C. Calumpang expressed gratitude to the extensionists for their dedication to learners while Dr. Estella A. Cayabyab, project leader of the extension program, motivated both student teachers and pupils to stay committed to the journey of learning and growth.

Also present during the event were: Dr. Loida M. Faller, NSTP Head; Ms. Connie L. Giron; Dr. Andrea Amor L. Dimalibot; BEEd faculty extensionists; and teachers of Sevilla Elementary School.

On this solemn day, we commemorate the life of Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., a man whose death became the loudest cry for freedom in the country and who put principle before safety.

The country takes a moment to honor a man who entered history with nothing but bravery, courage, and love for the Filipino people. By celebrating Ninoy Aquino Day, we pay tribute to a person whose passing served as the catalyst for the People Power movement.

His legacy reminds us that history is not only spoken—it must be kept in the heart. Ninoy Aquino’s story is not just a memory to be forgotten; it is a torch that continues to ignite the spirit of national conciousness in every Filipino.

We are here to help you navigate through this period. Open the lines of communication and coordination with your dean, principals, and program chairpersons, your advisers and subject teachers. We encourage you to connect with your peers and support one another. 𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦: As they prepare for their in-campus teaching internship, 69 pre-service teachers from the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) program and 50 from the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (BECEd) program gathered for a pinning and send-off ceremony at the MLUC Covered Court on July 21.

Dr. Alfonso S. Lopez, chairperson of the BEEd and BECEd programs, emphasized the significance of the pinning ceremony. He encouraged the pre-service teachers to fulfill their responsibilities. They should excel in the name of the department and uphold global growth and transformative education.

The event was also attended by Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco, College of Education dean; Dr. Sharlene Gay V. Fabrigas, principal of the Laboratory Elementary School (LES); and Dr. Daniel P. Ong, BECEd Supervising Teacher; and Dr. Dyan T. Abulaban, BEEd Supervising Teacher.

Eid al-Adha Mubarak!

As we celebrate Eid al-Adha, let us reflect on the profound lessons of sacrifice, devotion, and submission to Allah's will. This blessed occasion commemorates the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and his readiness to sacrifice everything for the sake of the Almighty.

The Qur'an reminds us:

"It is neither their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is your piety that reaches Him."
(Surah Al-Hajj, 22:37)

And in a Hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"Indeed, Allah does not look at your forms or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your deeds."
(Sahih Muslim)

May our acts of sacrifice, prayer, and kindness on this sacred day draw us closer to Allah and strengthen our bonds with family and community. Wishing you all a joyous and blessed Eid al-Adha!
