🌧️ 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬
During this rainy season, most of us might think that owning a rental or Airbnb means having fewer bookings because people would rather stay in the comfort of their own homes.
But what if not everyone has that comfort?
Over the past few days, we’ve been busy handling bookings from people who were 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬.. While I’m grateful for the many bookings we’ve received, I can’t help but feel sad seeing the situation of others.
Every year, this seems to be the scenario. During heavy rains and flooding, our rentals become fully booked—not because people are simply looking for a place to stay, but because 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐲.
It’s a bittersweet feeling. As a property owner, I’m thankful that our units can provide a safe place for people when they need it most. But as a fellow member of the community, I truly hope that someday, we can have better and more effective flood control so that no family will have to leave their homes because of flooding.
