Ipaambi ang yaman,
Namana'y gampanan.
Sa ilalim ng gabi,
Masdan–tamis ng labi.

Matang ‘di malilimot,
Pag kasama’y gamot.
Natatanging yaman lang,
Wala pa ring lalamang.

Ang mga pinagmulan,
Halaga'y iingatan.
Ang salita ng bibig,
Sangkop din sa pag-ibig.

Halinga ng langit sinta,
Silahis gunam-gunita,
Indak, yapak na wagas,
Saysay dugong lumiyag.

Masayang hapag handa,
Awit kulintang sigla,
Sayaw diwata banay,
Gunita bayang tunay.

Bukas-palad daluyong,
llaw ng muni'y taglay,
Awit sa pusong aliw,
Salubong pusong wagas.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫.”

Every Ninoy Aquino Day, we pause to remember the man who spoke these words and the weight of the choice he made. On this day, we’re reminded that democracy is not a finished story—freedom and justice remain an ongoing draft we all get to write.

So as you scroll through your feed, remember: Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. isn’t just a throwback in history, but a reminder that freedom isn’t a one-time experience—it’s something we must keep alive. Ninoy’s legacy and dedication call us to keep hitting refresh on truth, courage, and hope.

Today, we celebrate World Humanitarian Day with the theme “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.” This day was first established to commemorate the 22 humanitarian aid workers who lost their lives in the 2003 bombing of the United Nations Headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq. Since then, it has become a time to honor the invaluable contributions of humanitarian workers who dedicate their lives to compassion and sacrifice in times of crisis.

We call on world leaders to protect humanitarian workers as they carry out their duties, to empower voices, and to preserve humanity. Let us all choose to act as humanitarians—where love knows no borders.

Today, we unite with the whole Catholic Church in celebrating the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a feast that proclaims one of the great mysteries of our faith—that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into the glory of Heaven.

It is more than a commemoration of an event; it is a celebration of hope fulfilled. Mary’s Assumption is the crown of her faithful “yes” to God, a reward for her unwavering trust, humility, and perfect obedience to His will. She stands as the first among the redeemed, a living sign of the destiny promised to all who persevere in faith.

This feast invites us to look beyond the trials of this life and to fix our eyes on the eternal joy that awaits us in God’s presence. In Mary, we see not only the Mother of the Church but also the image of what we are called to become—fully alive in Christ, sharing in His victory over sin and death.

Today, August 12, is International Youth Day (IYD), a commemoration of young people across the globe.

Poised as bearers of change, the youth represent 16% of the global population, a figure expected to rise by 7% by 2030.

IYD is part of the United Nations’ initiatives to shed light on timely issues and challenges faced by today’s youth, as well as their role in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year’s global observance is set in Nairobi, Kenya, in collaboration with UN-Habitat.

The Louisian community stands in solidarity with the celebration.

Scorching sunlight replaced the rains of the past weeks as Louisian students gathered at the Saint Louis College (SLC) high school grounds for the First Day High on August 11.

Despite delays caused by the recent typhoon, learners from all grade levels celebrated the official start of the school year.

Kicking off the morning, Ma’am Jean Datuin, Head of the High School Filipino Department, led a solemn prayer for the entire school community.

This was followed by the singing of the national anthem, Panatang Makabayan, the SLC mission, vision, and core values, and the SLC Hymn, accompanied by the SLC Marching Band.

Building on this sense of unity, Basic Education Schools Principal Mrs. Maria Evangelista delivered her welcome remarks, encouraging everyone to treat each day as an opportunity for growth.

“Tandaan ang bawat araw ay isang pagkakataong matuto, mag-isip, at magsagawa ng ayon sa tama at nararapat,” she emphasized.

From there, the program shifted into high energy as Teatrong Louisiano opened the stage with a dynamic dance number. The SLC Chorale followed with a heartfelt rendition of Ang Huling El Bimbo by Eraserheads.

Energy then carried over into the next segment as Teatrong Louisiano returned with their First Day High number, while the Samtoy Dance Troupe wrapped it up with a Zumba performance which drew cheers from the audience.

After the festivities, the momentum carried into the classrooms, where advisers guided students through the contents of the student handbook, school rules, and policies to prepare them for the year ahead.

The day ended with a campus tour for Grade 7 and Grade 11 students, allowing them to familiarize themselves with facilities, leisure areas, and key areas of the school before the beginning of regular classes.

𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐠𝐚?

Whether you’re stepping in for the first time or returning once more, there’s a familiar comfort in school that’s hard to name. After months away, the classrooms, hallways, and corners are ready to hold new opportunities, second chances, and the unexpected.

Like every school year, this will be more than just dates on a calendar. It will be the laughter between lessons, the chase for excellence, the drive for passion, and the moments that truly define who we are. While our dreams will never be quite as it seems, this chapter will eventually lead us to where we’re meant to be.
