The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has released PHP1.625 billion to replenish the Quick Response Funds (QRFs) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

About PHP1 billion of the PHP1.625 billion released funds will go to the DPWH, while the remaining PHP625 million will be given to the DSWD, according to a DBM news release on Friday.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte cited the city government’s improved disaster response in the recent bad weather and adverse effects of tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, and the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

In a media briefing at the QC Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) on Friday, Belmonte said there is still room for improvement in the city’s response efforts, and that the city government is eyeing long-term solutions to flooding and mass evacuation challenges.

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has relieved nine Customs personnel linked to a reported extortion incident at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 in Pasay City.

BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the incident, which occurred in June, is now the subject of a full-blown investigation by the Internal Inquiry Division of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS).

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Nanay Partylist distributed 1,000 food packs today to flood-affected families in three barangays of City of San Fernando.

The beneficiaries were from Barangay Pandaras (300), San Jose (300), and Sto. Niño (400).

Atty. Jun Canlas, second nominee of Nanay Partylist, said distribution was led by the partylist consultant Mylyn Cayabyab, following her request to Congresswoman Florabel Yatco.

The food packs came from DSWD, with logistics support from the Pampanga provincial government.

AT LEAST 50 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were left stranded and unable to get deployed or return home due to the extreme weather conditions felt in the country for almost the entire week.

In a social media post, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said some 50 OFWs were recorded as having their flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) either delayed or cancelled.
