Every time heavy rains pour over San Fernando, Pampanga, many areas quickly find themselves submerged in floodwaters. When I was younger, our barangay would often be flooded with water reaching waist-deep levels. Since our home was only a bungalow, our family eventually became accustomed to floodwaters entering our house whenever heavy rains came. While we often point to the intensity of the rainfall as the primary cause, we cannot ignore a long-standing problem that continues to worsen the situation: irresponsible garbage disposal. In her social media reels, CSFP Mayor Vilma Caluag appealed to her constituents to refrain from throwing their wastes anywhere to prevent the occurence of floods in the city. Plastics, food waste, and other trash carelessly thrown into canals, drainage systems, and waterways eventually clog the flow of water, causing streets and communities to flood even after just a few hours of rain. Flooding is not solely a consequence of nature; in many ways, it is also a result of our own actions.

God bless Sophie Cunningham and Enes Kanter Freedom for having the courage to say what many people are apparently becoming afraid to say: common sense still matters.

I'm surprised that we somehow live in a time when stating an obvious biological fact can suddenly become controversial. A discussion that should be grounded in science, fairness, and common sense is too often reduced to labels—“transphobic,” “racist,” or “hateful”—simply because someone expresses an opinion that does not conform to the prevailing narrative.

Technology has changed more than the way people work, communicate, and play—it has transformed the way communities are built.

Gaming has become a global spectator sport. Collecting has evolved into a thriving hobby culture. Content creation is now a career, while cosplay, trading card games, and pop culture fandoms continue to bring people together both online and offline.

ERODED PORTION OF TAIL D**E IN MINALIN REACHES 100 METERS

The eroded portion of the San Fernando–Sto. Tomas–Minalin Tail D**e in Barangay Sta. Catalina, Minalin, has now reached an estimated 100 meters in length, according to Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda.

The vice governor disclosed this following his inspection at the water channel, with Minalin Mayor Philip Naguit, on Monday.

Pineda warned that numerous fishponds and the livelihoods of many residents could be at risk if the affected portion of the d**e completely gives way.

During his term as governor, Pineda said he asked the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to repair the d**e.

He said that current Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda will coordinate with DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon for the immediate repair of the damaged section of the d**e.

Earlier, Mayor Naguit ordered an emergency repair of a eroded portion in Barangay Sta. Rita to protect the lives and livelihoods of residents.
