𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙖 𝙉𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙉𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙪𝙩𝙖𝙣 𝙈𝙤 𝙉𝙖?

Pebrero 25, 1986—isang araw na nagpabago sa takbo ng ating kasaysayan. Isang rebolusyong walang bala, walang dahas, ngunit nagpatumba sa diktadura.

Tatlong dekada at siyam na taon na ang lumipas mula nang ipakita ng sambayanang Pilipino ang tunay na lakas ng nagkakaisang bayan. Milyon-milyon ang nagmartsa, hindi para sa iilan, kundi para sa kinabukasan ng lahat.

Huwag hayaang malimutan. Huwag hayaang maulit ang madilim na bahagi ng ating kasaysayan. Ang People Power ay hindi isang kabanata lang sa libro, kundi isang paninindigan na dapat nating ipasa sa susunod na henerasyon.

𝙇𝙊𝙉𝙂 𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙐𝘾𝘾 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩!

Three UScholars qualify for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) after securing their spots by showing their writing proficiency in this school year's Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at San Fernando City South Central Integrated School on November 19 to 21.

RSPC delegates:
Edsel Greene Orpilla (1st place - Copyreading and Headline Writing, Filipino)
Harvey Padua (2nd place - Sports Writing, English)
Fritchzel Olivo (3rd place, News Writing, English).

UCCian journalists also won in several events namely:
Irish Villuan (4th place - Copyreading and Headline Writing, English)
Trestan Arellano (5th place - News Writing, Filipino)
Destine Jhan Calderon (6th place - Editorial Cartooning, English)
Cheska Nicole Farol (7th place - Column Writing, English)
Erin Dayap (7th place - Editorial Cartooning, Filipino)
Ma. Sophia Marzo (7th place - Sci-Tech Writing, Filipino)

In the group category, UScholar won second place in Radio Broadcasting Filipino.

The publication also received awards for the school paper category: News Page (5th Place), Editorial Page (4th Place), and Sports Page (5th Place).

The RSPC will be held in Dagupan, Pangasinan on February 2025.

#𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗦𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

Sa Araw ng mga Patay, muling nagbabalik ang mga alaala ng ating mga mahal sa buhay na pumanaw. Ang okasyong ito ay isang mahalagang pagkakataon upang ipakita ang ating paggalang at pagmamahal sa kanila. Sa bawat pagbisita natin sa kanilang mga libingan, naaalala natin ang mga espesyal na sandali na ating pinagsaluhan—mga ngiti, tawanan, at mga aral na kanilang itinuro sa atin. Ang mga alaala ng kanilang kabutihan at pagmamahal ay nagbibigay ng lakas at inspirasyon upang patuloy nating ipaglaban ang kanilang mga prinsipyo at mithiin.

Habang tayo’y nag-aalay ng mga bulaklak at kandila, hindi natin maiiwasang makaramdam ng lungkot, ngunit dapat din tayong magpasalamat sa mga pagkakataong ipinagkaloob nila sa atin. Sa mga panalangin na ating isinasagawa, tayo’y nag-uugnay sa kanilang mga kaluluwa, nag-aalay ng mga mensahe ng pag-asa at kapayapaan. Ang pagkakaroon ng pamilya at kaibigan sa ating tabi sa mga ganitong okasyon ay nagsisilbing liwanag sa ating mga puso. Ipinapakita nito ang halaga ng pagmamahalan at pagkakaisa, na tunay na mahalaga sa paggunita sa ating mga yumaong mahal sa buhay.

Sa bawat kandila at bulaklak na ating iniaalay, patuloy nating pinapangalagaan ang kanilang alaala. Nawa'y sa araw na ito, muling magningning ang mga alaala ng ating mga mahal sa buhay, at ipaalala sa atin ang kahalagahan ng pagmamahal, pagkakaisa, at pag-asa. Tayo'y magkaisa sa pag-alala at magpatuloy sa pagpapalaganap ng kanilang mga aral at pagmamahal sa ating mga puso, sapagkat sila ay bahagi ng ating pagkatao.

Sama-sama tayong magdasal at magbigay galang sa ating mga yumaong mahal sa buhay. Ang araw na ito ay puno ng pagmamahal at alaala, kaya’t ipagpatuloy natin ang kanilang legacy sa ating mga puso at gawa. 🕯️❤️

ADVISORY:

Classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School are suspended due to Typhoon Leon.

According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) , Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS)No. 1 is raised in La Union.

The suspension is based on the Department of Education (DepEd) Order 37 s. 2022, stating that classes from K to Grade 12 are automatically cancelled in schools situated in Local Government Units (LGUs)issued with TCWS 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Students are advised to stay at home for their safety. Meanwhile, they will be given asynchronous task to prevent learning loss.

𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐰𝐚 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐤, 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥

Blue Bakunawa secures their gold after prevailing a heated game versus Yellow Sarimanok, 60-59, during the basketball tournament of Basic Education Schools Intramurals held at Union Christian College covered court, 26 September 2024.

The moon-eaters are this school year's powerhouse with Edlan Boadilla as their team captain and Rodel Galvez as their basketball coach.

Despite their losing effort, Sarimanok led by Franz Beligan as their team captain proved that they are in par with the champions.

𝑬𝒍𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔

The eventual winners dominated the first game of the tournament against Green Galura through their relentless defense and unstoppable offense from the opening tip to the final buzzer, setting the tone with a commanding 69-50 victory.

Yellow Sarimanok showed no mercy against Red Minokawa, pushing their opponents limits with their explosive gameplay and mastery of the court to earn the spot for championship game with 53-39 win.

𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆

During the first half, Sarimanok overpowered Bakunawa through Beligan's blazing coast-to-coast offense topped with Mico Angeles' tenacious defense.

Despite the yellow bird's aggression, the blue dragons asserted their supremacy through Boadilla's command in the court complimented by Jhon Rick Dumaguin's blazing baskets that kept their score on the rise.

Galvez stated that Bakunawa's first half gameplay was not effective, eventually switching to trap defense to tire their opponents.

Their playstyle proved to be effective as the Sarimanok's aggression diminished during second half as their key players became plagued with cramp.

Seeing this as an opportunity for an all-out attack, blue team fortified their defenses, outsmarting the fierce yellow team who refused to rest.

Even though tired and cramped, Beligan's team refused to be overwhelmed by Boadilla's team, continuing the assault to close the gap between their scores.

Blue Bakunawa eventually captures the gold after defending a one-point lead against Yellow Sarimanok's Beligan who missed a long two, 60-59.

"We thought we are going to lose, but I was shocked when Beligan stopped and shot the ball... he could have driven it to the basket, at least he has few seconds to rebound it for another shot which could have secured the win" Galvez stated.

Meanwhile, Green Galura got bronze, while Red Minokawa is third runner-up. #

This won't be possible without the love and support of the institution and our dear parents. A big round of applause to our candidates who showed not only beauty, but also their wisdom and sportsmanship in the said event.👏
