World Champions and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Gold Medalists Carissa Moore (HAW) and Italo Ferreira (BRA) won the Corona Cero New Zealand Pro Presented by Bonsoy, Stop No. 4 of the 2026 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT). The two winners, who also shared World Titles in 2019, claimed their first victories since becoming parents, defeating Sawyer Lindblad (USA) and Morgan Cibilic (AUS), respectively. It was an epic end to the inaugural men’s and women’s CT event on New Zealand shores, with Raglan’s Manu Bay turning on the best conditions of the event with super clean waves in the four-to-five-foot range.

The 2nd annual Tipi Jabrik’s Grom Patrol India event in Mangalore wrapped up yesterday with the crowning of new and repeat champions after two very different days of fun and adventurous grom competition at Tanneribhavi Beach.

Nearly 50 junior surfers from both coasts of India gathered at the Mangalore Surf Club on Tanneribhavi Beach to surf, compete, learn, and enjoy a weekend adventure at Grom Patrol India Stop 1 in Mangalore. The second stop will be held in Covelong (Chennai) this coming July, where even more groms are expected to participate as surfing continues gaining momentum as a national sport and lifestyle thanks to the support of India’s biggest surfing advocate and presenter of the Grom Patrol India events, Arun Vasu of the TT Group.

Finals action began with Som Sethi claiming victory in the Under 18 Boys Division. It was Som’s smooth and polished style, linking together a variety of strong maneuvers with speed and flow, that earned him the top spot on the podium. He was challenged by Tayin Arun, whose bigger frame and powerful approach also impressed the judges, but Tayin struggled to find the waves needed to establish the rhythm required to match Som’s highest scores.

In the Under 18 Girls Division, 16-year-old Aadya R.A. Singh, who has only been surfing for almost two years, claimed her first competition victory by defeating last year’s winner Saanvi G Hedge.

“It was amazing and the event was so good…the best experience I’ve had so far, so it feels great to win,” said Aadya. “Yesterday was pretty difficult because the current was so strong and the waves had a lot of power, but today was so much better…calm, not much current, and much smoother. I was a bit nervous before the heat, but once I got out there and started surfing, I felt really confident.”

Indonesia's Dhea Novitasari (INA) made history as the first Indonesian to qualify for the Longboard Tour after claiming victory in the 2026 Hamamatsu Open LQS in Japan, the final event of the 2025/26 regional LQS season.
natasya (INA) claimed her second LQS event win of the season with a decisive win over World No. 5 Hiroka Yoshikawa (JPN). The 25-year-old posted a near-exact heat total as her first victory in South Korea, at which she defeated another LT veteran in Natsumi Taoka (JPN). Novitasari’s 15.84 two-wave total was the highest of the event and also included the event-high single-wave score of an 8.67. Novitasari led for much of the Final, but closed the door on her competitors when her high score arrived following a critical hang-ten connected into long hang-fives, tight footwork and seamless rail transitions. The win secured a berth on the elite Longboard Tour for the Indonesian, the first from her nation to qualify.

“This is my second WSL event victory and I’m really happy,” Novitasari said. “I was nervous at first, but I managed to control it and enjoy myself in the water. Japan has amazing food and beautiful scenery. I’ve really enjoyed being here. I can’t wait to surf on the LT, wow, that’s my dream to be there and it’s come true. I’m so happy. I’m going to go back home and train, surf every day, and just get ready.”

The first of two Grom Patrol stops in India kicks off tomorrow at Tanneribhavi Beach, Mangalore, where over 50 of India’s growing community of groms will take to the water to compete and have fun in this structured and educational competition event presented by Arun Vasu and organized by the Surfing Federation of India in cooperation with the Mangalore Surf Club.

The morning started with a beach cleanup, then a practice session, followed by a competitors briefing at the River View Resort where Mangalore Surf Club President “Paddy” Padmanabha warmly welcomed the participants and families to this second annual Grom Patrol event.

Then Contest Director Nawaz Jabbar explained the contest schedule and formats to the groms, along with announcing that all competitors needed to be on the beach by 6:30 am tomorrow and be prepared for a 7:00 am start.  He then introduced Samai Reboul, who is the Head Judge for the event, and Samai explained the judging criteria and made sure the participants understood how they would be judged during the competition.
