𝗢𝗙𝗪𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗸𝗲

South Korea - Thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in South Korea stand to benefit from the newly imposed minimum hourly wage for the year 2026.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) - Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in South Korea reported that, for 2026, the mandatory hourly minimum wage was set at KRW 10,320, up from KRW 10,030 in 2025. This equates to an average monthly wage of KRW 2,156,880 based on 209 working hours per month or a standard 40-hour workweek.

The minimum wage applies to all industries, including workers under the Employment Permit System (EPS) from manufacturing and caregiving sectors, in line with the principle of equal treatment.

There are 25,606 Filipino EPS workers in South Korea who earn the minimum wage and will benefit from these new wage adjustments.

The new minimum hourly wage rate took effect on January 1, 2026, following the consensus resolution adopted by the Korean Minimum Wage Commission during its 12th plenary meeting held in July 2025 at the Sejong Government Complex.

South Korea's minimum wage is reviewed annually based on factors like cost of living, wage levels, labor productivity, income distribution, and industry type, aligning the needs of workers and the business sector. # # #
