Motivation:
"The aim of our post is to raise awareness among hearing people about Deaf culture our uniqueness, language, skills, and education from various schools and institutions. We encourage everyone to understand that Deaf people can do anything, just like anyone else."

We believe Deaf peopleโ€™s skills and talents show the hearing world how Deaf individuals use their hands and visual focus to succeed.

Deaf people can engage in a wide variety of activities and hold many jobs, provided that appropriate accommodations are in place.

* Technology (software developers, IT specialists, engineers)
* Skilled Trades (carpenters, mechanics, chefs)
* Sports (professional athletes, coaches)

What is a stereotype? And why do some people still think Deaf people canโ€™t do anything?

Formal Request:

We respectfully request that Sir Edu Cabut invite Deaf instructors, leaders, and representatives from Olongapo and nearby provinces, or coordinate with Deaf organizations, to take the lead in teaching Filipino Sign Language (FSL) and promoting the culture, identity, diversity, and pride of the Filipino Deaf community.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

It is important that FSL be taught by Deaf signers, not by hearing individuals teaching other hearing people, because FSL and its culture truly belong to the Deaf community. We humbly encourage you to contact Deaf organizations, guest signers, and FSL interpreters as resource persons for your activities.

Why is it important to learn from Deaf native signers?
Deaf native signers are the real experts! They donโ€™t just teach you the language but also the culture. Plus, they'll help you avoid mistakes that non-native signers might make.

Whatever your needs may be, we are here to help. You may also connect with other Deaf organizations that would be glad to serve as guests, collaborators, or partners in your programs and workplace initiatives.

For your information:

Former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed the Filipino Sign Language Act (Republic Act No. 11106) on October 30, 2018, officially recognizing Filipino Sign Language (FSL) as the national sign language of the Philippines.

Today, our Deaf community primarily uses FSL, not ASL (American Sign Language).

Celebrating Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Day! ๐Ÿ‘

Today is a special occasion to celebrate and appreciate the rich culture and language of the Deaf community in the Philippines.

We are truly grateful to former President Rodrigo Duterte for signing the Filipino Sign Language (FSL) Law, Republic Act No. 11106, Officially recognizing FSL as the national sign language of the Filipino Deaf community.

We deeply honor the unwavering efforts of Deaf leaders and the entire Filipino Deaf community, who never gave up in advocating for full accessibility and recognition. FSL is not just a language; it is a symbol of identity, culture, and equal communication for all.

Filipino Sign Language is a vital part of our nationโ€™s linguistic diversity. May this day inspire continued support, inclusivity, and greater understanding of FSL and Deaf culture.

Letโ€™s celebrate Deaf pride, accessibility, and unity! ๐ŸคŸ

Together, we continue advocating for a more inclusive Philippines.

Some hearing people believe that Filipino Sign Language (FSL) seems to mock Deaf people.

However, FSL is not a joke.

Filipino Sign Language is the national language of the Filipino Deaf community. It is a complete language with its own grammar, culture, and history. FSL expresses Deaf identity, pride, and communication. Please respect our language and our community.

FSL Training for Inclusive Work Environments

ADAAโ€™s Filipino Sign Language (FSL) training promotes inclusive communication by empowering both Deaf and hearing participants. This includes hearing staff such as nurses, healthcare professionals, teachers, lawyers, government personnel, and corporate employees, ensuring they gain the knowledge and skills to interact respectfully and effectively with the Deaf community. Through collaborative learning, we build workplaces and institutions that are accessible, culturally aware, and barrier-free. ๐Ÿ™‚
