“Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34
I used to be quick to anger. My family would say:
“Palagi kang galit.”
“Ang liit na bagay, pinapalaki mo.”
“Kumalma ka.”
I didn’t realize then that my words reflected a heart that was striving — tired, proud, and wanting to be seen. I relied heavily on my own strength. I believed that if I worked harder and carried more, I could secure a good life for my family.
Then Eli died.
And I was reminded how short life truly is.
By God’s grace, his passing filled our family with peace, not regret — yet it awakened me to what truly matters. It showed me that life is fragile, time is not guaranteed, and the way we live and speak every day carries weight.
I will still stumble, but I pray for people who will correct me as Christ would — not to condemn, but to rebuke with love.
God, in His grace, slowly transforms my heart — not through condemnation, but through love found in His words. He softens what pride and striving had hardened.
Taming the tongue isn’t about being quieter. It’s about surrendering the heart.
Life is short.
Our strength is limited.
Our words matter.
May our life and words reflect Christ. 🤍
