Need help with hospital bills?
My brother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a rare disease, in 2023. As his condition progressed, he experienced his first ICU confinement from December 2025 to January 2026, followed by a second ICU confinement beginning January 22, 2026, which continues up to the present.
I am sharing this information for those who may need assistance.
Medical Assistance Hospital Bill - Guarantee Letter at Supporta sa Bayan Desk (House of Representatives)
1. Proceed to HOR North Gate
(Sa Tricycle Terminal na malapit sa overpass Batasan Rd, hanapin ang pila papuntang “DS”/DSWD, ₱12 regular fare). Bumaba sa DSWD, tumawid papuntang HOR North Gate.
• Sabihin sa guard na mag-aapply ka for Supporta sa Bayan Desk (SBD). Pumila at maghintay.
2. Get your official number
Hintayin ang staff na magbibigay ng number. Ito ang gagamitin para sa queue system. May hiwalay na pila para sa priority (Senior, PWD, buntis) at sa regular applicants.
3. Interview and assessment
• Tatawagin ka ng social worker para sa interview.
• Dito malalaman kung for DSWD referral ka (Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program) or DOH MAIFIP referral (Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially-Incapable Patients program)
Sa case ko, walang pondo ang DOH para sa hospital outside NCR. Kaya hindi na-cover yung promissory note balance namin sa Healthway Qualimed Hospital San Jose (Bulacan).
Mabuti na lang dala ko rin papers for Brigino General Hospital (Bulacan). Na-process agad for DSWD referral, no need na pumunta pa sa DSWD Paragon. 😊
6. GL Release
Processing time: one-day release ng Guarantee Letter kung kumpleto ang requirements.
✅ Quick Tips for Applicants
• Bring complete documents ORIGINAL/CTC (Hospital Bill):
- Medical certificate/abstract
- updated billing statement/promissory note if discharged na
- valid ID of patient/representative
- endorsement letter from hospital
- social case study report (addressed to House of Representatives)
*hindi ito kukunin, iscan lang po ng staff kung approved sa DOH MAIFIP pero need isubmit if DSWD
Pwede mag-apply kung admitted sa public or private hospital.
• Arrive early: Para makakuha ng mas maagang number at maiwasan ang long wait. (Hindi totoo na first 50 applicants lang ang tinatanggap. As of 12noon may mga dumadating pa pero nabibigyan number (No. 83). Hindi po kailangan pumila a day/night before 🙌 katulad nung mga nababasa kong post na madaling araw nakapila na sa labas ng Batasan ❌ Cut-off: 3PM
• Kung may hospital balance, kailangan ng updated Statement of Account (SOA)
• Always check the name of beneficiary kung may discrepancy (wrong spelling) para walang problema.
Note: once per confinement lang ang paghingi ng assistance (Hospital Bill)
👉 Overall, smooth and mabilis ang process basta kumpleto ang documents.
8AM ako dumating, na-interview around 930AM. Narelease ang GL 140PM (actually after the interview by 10AM released na sana agad ang GL pero dahil May 2026 pa yung SOA na dala ko, nagpakuha pa ako ng updated bill sa hospital, pinalalamove and nareceive ko ng 130PM -* kudos kay kuya rider 35mins lang nasa HOR na sya)
Gusto ko rin i-commend yung 2 social workers na naginterview sa akin for being approachable and sincere.
