Founded: Incorporated and registered in 1991 by Rainier and Leonida Sison.
Focus: Initially started with weekly entertainment magazines, Bulgar and Chism, later focusing on and growing Bulgar.
Key Publication: Bulgar, a popular Filipino-language tabloid newspaper known for its sensational stories and attention-grabbing headlines. It even reached a daily circulation of 600,000 in 1996 and is now among the most-read Tagalog dailies in Mega Manila.
Ownership: After Rainier Sison passed away in 2020, the company remained with the Sison family. Leonida Sison is the majority shareholder (79%), President, and Chairman of the Board, and also writes a regular column ("Boses") for the tabloid. Her son, Maxim Ryan, is the publisher and holds a 15% stake, also serving as the board's Vice President and a columnist for the paper. The remaining 6% is equally distributed to his sister, Maria Michelle Sison-Tolentino, and his son, Ryan Malcolm Ethan Y. Sison.
Current Activities: Bulgar carries national news, crime stories, opinion columns, sports, and showbiz features, and maintains an online presence with articles in both English and Filipino.
Popularity: A testament to its popularity is the number of politicians, mostly senators, who write columns for the paper. According to Nielsen's 2023 Q2 Consumer and Media View Report, Bulgar is among the top-ranked print media with a 1.11% readership share.
