“ʜᴇʀᴏ ᴡɪᴛʜᴏᴜᴛ ᴀ ᴄᴀᴘᴇ ʙᴜᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀ ɴᴀᴍᴇᴛᴀɢ”
One day, after visiting an interested friend we were teaching, my companion and I felt a strong prompting to pass by another person we were also teaching—even though we didn’t have any scheduled appointment with them that day. It was a quiet impression, but both of us felt it clearly in our hearts. There was a sense of urgency, as if we needed to go there right away.
We hurriedly walked toward their home, which was located in the middle of a field. When we arrived, we called out, “Ayo po, ayo po!” but no one answered. Thinking they might be behind the house, we went around to check. We noticed some smoke rising and assumed they were cooking. But as we got closer, we realized something alarming—the house was on fire!
Without hesitation, we quickly worked together to put out the flames. By the Lord’s mercy, we were able to stop the fire before it spread further and destroyed everything.
When the family returned, they were overwhelmed with gratitude. One of them said in Visaya, “Kung dili pa tungod sa inyo, elders, wala na unta mi’y balay. Daghang salamat kaayo!”
(“If not for you, elders, we would have lost our home. Thank you so much!”)
In that moment, my heart was filled with deep gratitude for the Holy Ghost—for that still, small voice that guided us to go there without delay. I knew that it was not a coincidence but divine inspiration.
That day, I was reminded that the Lord truly watches over His children. Sometimes, He allows us to be His hands—to act, to serve, and even to save. We may not wear capes, but we wear nametags that represent His name. And that makes all the difference.
