Joseph Jiao at Capt.

Isa siyang lisensyadong private at commercial pilot.

Many have asked when the wake will be. Presently, we are in the process of transporting the remains of Allan, as well as awaiting the arrival of some of his family members. We are looking at the end of this coming week,โ€ aniya sa kanyang Facebook post noong April 4.

Dagdag pa niya โ€œWe will keep you all posted. Alam namin maraming nagmamahal kay Allan and would like to pay their respects. Please keep us in your prayers. God bless po.โ€

The current surge of fuel prices toward โ‚ฑ125 per liter is more than an economic hiccup; it is a systemic wake-up call for the government to shift from reactive relief to proactive resilience.

For too long, the national strategy has relied on "band-aid" solutions, such as distributing one-time fuel subsidies to transport workers only after a crisis.

While these subsidies offer temporary breathing room, they fail to address the root cause: an over-dependence on volatile global oil markets that leaves the local economy vulnerable to every international conflict.

To truly protect the Filipino people, the government must move beyond being a spectator to weekly price hikes and take an active hand in stabilizing the energy landscape.

A proactive approach requires a multi-front strategy that prioritizes long-term energy independence over short-term political fixes.

This begins with a serious re-evaluation of the Oil Deregulation Law to allow for better state intervention, such as establishing a strategic oil reserve or a price-smoothing buffer fund.

The government must also fast-track the transition to renewable energyโ€”solar, wind, and even exploring nuclear optionsโ€”to decouple our transport and power costs from foreign crude.

Finally, there must be a massive, accelerated investment in electric-powered mass transit. When a country has a world-class, electricity-driven rail and bus network, a spike in gas prices becomes a manageable inconvenience rather than a national emergency.

True governance isn't just about managing the current disaster; itโ€™s about building an infrastructure that ensures such a crisis never happens again.

What happened at the House of Representatives this week was not a simple bureaucratic misunderstanding. It was a deliberate act that reeks of political maneuveringโ€”one that threatens to rob the Filipino people of their only constitutional weapon against a sitting President.

Two groupsโ€”one led by Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) and another led by former Ilocos Norte governor Luis Chavit Singson and former representative Mike Defensorโ€”attempted to file impeachment complaints against President Ferdinand โ€œB**gbongโ€ Marcos Jr. They accused him of betrayal of public trust over alleged multibillion-peso kickbacks in flood control projects and anomalies in the national budget.

Instead of receiving the complaints, officials turned them away, saying the House secretary general was out of the country and that no one else had the authority to accept them.

Let that sink in.

The 1987 Constitution and the Rules of the House of Representatives clearly state that impeachment complaints must be submitted to the Houseโ€™s Office of the Secretary General (OSG) and then transmitted to the Speaker, who must refer them to the appropriate committee within three session days.

Accepting these complaints is a basic administrative duty. It does not require approval, review, or judgment. It certainly does not depend on whether one official is physically present.

To refuse to accept a complaint on such flimsy grounds is absurd. By blocking the filing, the OSG effectively acted as a political gatekeeper, inserting itself where it has no authority.

It also denied citizens their most basic democratic right: to demand accountability from those who govern them. This is not how a constitutional democracy functions. This is how institutions are weaponized to protect the powerful.

Even more suspicious is the timing. A first impeachment complaintโ€”already transmitted to the Speakerโ€”now threatens to trigger the one-year bar that would block all other complaints against the same official, regardless of their merit.

This one-year rule exists to prevent harassment, so officials are not constantly bombarded with repeated complaints.

The risks of this rule were highlighted last year in the case of Vice President Sara Duterte. On July 25, 2025, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the impeachment complaint against Duterte was unconstitutional for violating the one-year rule.

The high court also cited due process violations, finding that the House failed to provide the Vice President with the charges and evidence before transmitting them to the Senate. Consequently, the Senate lacked jurisdiction to proceed with a trial.

The ruling did not absolve Duterte of the charges; it simply meant no new complaint could be filed against her until February 6, 2026.

The House appears to be repeating the same constitutional shortcutsโ€”only this time, to protect Malacaรฑang.

Because of this, there is growing concern that a weak or questionable complaint can protect public officials from accountability, not because they are innocent, but because procedural rules are being misused.

Critics fear the same tactic could now be used to block legitimate complaints against the President, turning impeachment from a constitutional check into a political shield.

Bayan at least tried to comply by leaving a copy of its complaint, refusing to be cowed by procedural trickery. The Singson-Defensor group, seeing what they described as a โ€œmoro-moro,โ€ walked away rather than legitimize a process they believe was rigged from the start.

Their anger is justified. A system that pretends to accept accountability while quietly blocking it is worse than one that openly rejects it.

This episode exposes a harsh truth: impeachment in the Philippines is no longer just a legal processโ€”it is a political game controlled by insiders who decide which complaints live and which die before they even reach daylight.

The House of Representatives should remember that it does not exist to protect the President. It exists to protect the Constitution. When it allows administrative excuses to block legitimate grievances, it becomes complicit in the erosion of democratic accountability.

If impeachment complaints can be rejected at the door, delayed until they become irrelevant, or neutralized by procedural ambush, then impeachment itself becomes an illusionโ€”something that exists on paper but not in practice.

The Filipino people deserve better than closed doors and technical excuses. They deserve a Congress brave enough to let the truth be heard, no matter how inconvenient it may be for those in power.

Accountability should not need permission.

ATONG ANG NOW PHโ€™s NUMBER 1 MOST WANTED FUGITIVE; AUTHORITIES OFFER โ‚ฑ10M REWARD FOR HIS ARREST

Businessman Charlie โ€œAtongโ€ Ang has been named the Philippinesโ€™ No. 1 most wanted fugitive over his alleged involvement with the controversial missing โ€œsabungerosโ€ case.

Heโ€™s accused of killing over 100 missing sabungeros and he is considered armed and dangerous,โ€ Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said in a press briefing on Thursday, January 15.

Remulla urged the public to report any information about Angโ€™s whereabouts, noting that a โ‚ฑ10 million reward is available.

The manhunt comes after a Santa Cruz, Laguna Regional Trial Court issued on Wednesday, January 14, non-bailable arrest warrants against Ang and 17 co-accused over kidnapping with homicide, serious illegal detention, and other charges tied to the missing cockfighting enthusiasts who disappeared between 2021 and 2022

So far, all 17 coโ€‘accused have been arrested, with Ang the only one still at large. Those in custody include police officers and former security personnel linked to Angโ€™s circle.

Despite several attempts to serve the warrants at properties linked to Ang in Metro Manila, Batangas and Laguna, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has so far been unable to locate Ang.

Authorities is preparing to seek an INTERPOL Red Notice to alert law enforcement agencies worldwide and prevent Ang from fleeing abroad.

Remulla have warned the public that anyone found helping or sheltering Ang could face serious criminal charges.

He emphasized that cooperation with law enforcement is crucial, and providing assistance to the fugitive will not be tolerated under Philippine law.

PANGULONG BONGBONG MARCOS, PINIRMAHAN NA ANG 2026 NATIONAL BUDGET ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ

โ€œWith the signing of the 2026 GAA into law, we are guaranteeing investments that will turn into tangible results and ultimately uplift the lives of our people. You can be assured that the Filipino people are at the core of this budget,โ€ dagdag pa niya.

EDUKASYON BILANG PANGUNAHING PRAYORIDAD

MILITARY AT UNIFORMED PERSONNEL

โ€œThe Executive received the enrolled bill on December 29, 2025 and conducted a thorough and careful review of the proposed budget to ensure consistency with the administrationโ€™s priorities and taking into consideration valuable recommendations from stakeholders,โ€ ani Toledo.

Sinamahan nila MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Asec. David Angelo Vargas, at MMDA Traffic Discipline Office Director for Enforcement Atty.
