‎Throughout her cadetship, Midn/CDR Quisoben earned the distinction of 3CL Star Cadet and represented PMMA in various fields as part of the PMMA Multisports Team and Spartan Team.
‎
‎Her shipboard training under Virtue Maritime Services Corporation aboard M/V Shameer Rayne 2 brought her to Lianyungang, China, offering her firsthand experience in navigating foreign waters and international port operations set to serve in the Philippine Coast Guard.
‎

‎Midn/CDR De Leon was awarded as 1CL Star Cadet, and actively served as part of the Silent Drill Company, Galleon Committee, and Helm Committee. She also finished the PMC Marathon, showing grit both in and out of uniform.

‎Her shipboard training under BW Epic Kosan, aboard M/V Sophia Kosan and Epic Madeira, took her to Spain, Belgium, Suez Canal, Egypt, Netherlands, and USA—solidifying her skills and global maritime experience as a Philippine Navy Scholar.

Presenting Midn/CDR Aleda Mae Benegas Bergantin, proudly representing the “Home of the Boa-Boahan Festival”— Nabua, Camarines Sur. She currently serves as the 2nd Battalion Commander of the Kadaligtan Class of 2025, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE).

Midn/CDR Bergantin is a Philippine Navy Scholar, a member of the Uniform Committee, and served as 1CL Assistant Section Marcher. She finished as 2nd Place in the La Copa De PMMA Football Tournament, a Sovereignty Run completer, a SCUAA and CAASUC participant, and also represented the Academy in the International Wellness at Sea Cadets’ Conference.

Her shipboard training under Virtue Maritime Service Corporation aboard M/V Shameer Rayne 2 brought her to ports that honed her technical skills and maritime competence.

Carrying the honor of leadership and service, Midn/CDR Bergantin continues to stand firm in her calling while driven by her quote, “Won by perfect love, stirred by grace, and sustained by Him”— a testament to the strength and grace that carried her through every challenge.

‎Featuring the 2nd Battalion Executive Officer, Midn/LCDR Vjorn Ross G Gaminde from Iriga City—known as the “City of Crystal-Clear Springs” in Camarines Sur. He is graduating in Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT), aspiring to become a merchant marine officer.

‎Midn/LCDR Gaminde is an active member of the Sword Sponsor Committee, Sports Committee, and Helm Committee—playing key roles in upholding tradition, promoting camaraderie, and fostering discipline within the Corps.

‎He completed his shipboard training as a deck cadet aboard M/V Ever Envoy under Cargo Safeway Inc., taking him across notable ports such as Tokyo, Callao, Manzanillo, Kaohsiung, Osaka, Puerto Quetzal, Shekou, Hong Kong, Vancouver, and Tacoma—each enriching his understanding of international maritime operations and shaping his global perspective as a future officer.

‎From every sunrise on deck to every storm conquered at sea, his voyage has been more than training—it has been a crucible of growth. His leadership is not only found in command but also in quiet consistency and the example he sets each day for those around him.

Introducing our midshipman of the day, Midn/LCDR Jerwin C Aggabao hailing from the "Rice Granary of the Cordilleras" Tabuk City, Kalinga. He currently serves as the 2nd Battalion Supplies and Logistics Officer (N4). Graduating with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE).

Midn/LCDR Aggabao is a proud member of the prestigious Silent Drill Company and the Sports Committee. A consistent Star Cadet during his 4th and 3rd class years, he was also awarded Max Merits by the Superintendent—a testament to his discipline, integrity, and excellence

During his 2nd class year, he traveled to countries including Brazil, Romania, and Iran through Crossworld Marine Services Inc. aboard M/V Elpida. These experiences honed his skills and deepened his dedication as he now embarks on a new journey as a future Merchant Marine Officer.

He lives by his belief, "You won't know the outcome if you don't start doing it, so just do it, " emphasizing that success only come when action is taken because a plan without action is nothing.

Standing tall and proud from Lamut, Ifugao, presenting the Second Battalion Training and Operation Officer (N3), Midn/LCDR Casey Trix D Balamban. His discipline as an officer made him a dynamic and consistent midshipman. Taking up the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMarE), he stood tall, carrying the spear of leadership and excellence.

Prior to his position as a line officer, he carved his name through the ladders of hard work and discipline by joining the Guidon Committee during his 4CL year—earning him the honor of serving as the Guidon Bearer in the Commencement Exercises of the Class of 2022. Following his efforts, he joined the respected Silent Drill Company in his 3CL year, known for its commendable art in the ex*****on of rifle drills—a reflection of his commitment and discipline. Now, in his final year, his dedication and grit have led him to hold the position of Guidon Committee Chairman.

His versatility also played a role in his contributions to the Sports Committee through various events and competitions, his genuine support for the academy.

During his shipboard training, he served aboard M/V Ever Apex under Cargo Safeway Inc., visiting ports such as Singapore, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Felixstowe and Ipswich in the UK, Colombo, Kaohsiung, Taipei, Malaysia, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yangtian, Qingdao, and even passed through the Suez Canal in Egypt. These voyages he made are a reflection of his technical knowledge on board, preparing him for the uncertain maritime industry.

Through it all, he remains grounded by his principle: "The goal is not to play fast, but under control—you do that by playing smooth." This reflects that a man with a clear goal is forged by experience and driven by purpose to fulfill his duty.

Midn/LCDR Michael Allen C Cabanos, from Capas, Tarlac, serves as the 2nd Battalion Security and Intelligence (N2), stands as a steadfast figure in the Kadaligtan Class of 2025, known for his discipline, precision, and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Throughout his cadetship, Midn/LCDR Cabanos has earned several distinctions that reflect both his character and capabilities. He is a Superintendent’s Medal Awardee and a Star Cadet—honors that speak volumes about his academic and leadership prowess. After completing his final year at the Academy, he is set to join the service as an officer of the Philippine Navy.

He is also an active member of the Silent Drill Company and the Galleon Committee, embodying both physical and mental excellence. His dedication to ceremonial duties was further displayed when he participated as a parader in the 89th AFP Anniversary.

His journey at sea has shaped his perspective and professional skills. He sailed aboard the MV Cape Providence and MV Nikolas D under Crossworld Marine Services Inc. and Golden Union Shipping SA, respectively. 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗞 𝗹 𝗣𝗠𝗠𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱
Midn/LCDR Jericho Jessee Tannong, hailing from Pinukpuk-Lubuagan, Kalinga, is a proud Igorot who has built a cadetship defined by discipline, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to service.

Upon entering the gates of the academy, he was recognized as Star Cadet Top 1 in his 4CL year, setting a high standard from the start. However, it was during his 3CL year that he achieved one of his most notable milestones—ranking among the Top 10 of the class while being a part of the Silent Drill Company. As a member of the Silent Drill Company, he was awarded maximum merits, a testament to his discipline and excellence. Balancing rigorous academic requirements with the demanding standards of Silent Drill, he exemplified the caliber of a well-rounded midshipman committed to both precision and intellect.

In his 2CL year, he further distinguished himself by being the Deck Cadet of the Year, reinforcing his technical expertise with real-world maritime experience aboard the MV Ansac Moon Bear under Fleet Management Limited, which took him to ports such as Kawasaki, Japan. In his 1CL year, he was Top 2 of the class for the first semester, continuing to uphold his consistent record of academic excellence.

Beyond academics and training, Midn/LCDR Tannong has also taken on significant leadership roles. He served as 1st Battalion N1 during his 3CL year and now continues to lead as a 1CL through his role as the 2nd Battalion Administrative and Personnel Officer (N1).

Through every challenge, he moves forward with quiet determination, guided by his roots and the discipline of a PMMA midshipman. His guiding belief—“No is but an excuse in achieving one’s goal”—continues to steer his course as he charts a future shaped by resolve, excellence, and pride in heritage.

𝗜𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗦 | The Philippine Merchant Marine Academy conducted the Pre-Embarkation Orientation of the 344-strong Layagsikan Class of 2027 held at PMMA Grandstand, July 7.

The event aimed to prepare the third-class midshipmen for the demands and challenges of life at sea as they embark on their journey to become future maritime professionals.

𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗖𝗞 𝗹 𝗣𝗠𝗠𝗔 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗧𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱

From the humble town of San Mariano, Isabela, a place known as the “Rice Bowl of the North,” features Midn/CDR Darwyn Lenaert Hope P. Bulusan. A proud member of the KADALIGTAN Class of 2025, he holds the position of 1st Battalion Commander, a role that reflects both his competence and commitment as a leader within the Corps of Midshipmen.

Throughout his years at the academy, he became a member of the distinctive Silent Drill Company, Steering Committee, and Sports Committee. He previously led as Corps Commander during the Class 2025 Oath-Taking Ceremony and Commencement Exercises for Class 2022, and earned Maximum Merits during his 3CL year.

He honed his skills aboard MV EVER BLISS under Cargo Safeway Inc., where he sailed to Busan and Gwangyang in South Korea, Kaohsiung in Taiwan, and Manila, Philippines, gaining invaluable maritime experience.

Reflecting on tough times, he shared, “I kept going by remembering my purpose and my family’s sacrifices. The brotherhood within the Corps gave me strength when I needed it most.” His leadership was tested when he faced disciplinary challenges within his battalion, teaching him that “true leadership means standing by what is right, even when it’s difficult.”

To future midshipmen, he advises, “Embrace every challenge with patience. Trust the process, believe in yourself, and never forget your purpose.”

Instilled by his motto, “The very things that hold you down are going to lift you up,” he sets a new chapter in the vast seas, carrying with him the lessons and legacy of his leadership.
