The proper way to splice the wires is by either (1) spreading the strands on each side, interlacing them together, twisting the loose ends to lock the splice in place and only then wrapping each of the twisted ends around the OTHER wire; or 2) hooking the two wires at a right-angle bend and then wrapping each one of electrical tape.3 splice must not facing each other but in different path one in the lower and the other one above.
