Abuela Cinco’s Kitchenette is one of the newest additions to Imus’ food scene, serving affordable Filipino comfort food in a casual and welcoming setting. They officially opened on September 18, offering familiar dishes that are great for sharing.

📌 Worth it? Yes

OUR VERDICT:
We decided to check out this new addition to the Imus food scene, and overall, we had a good experience. The prices are affordable, servings are generous enough for sharing, and most of their dishes already come with rice.

The Adobong Antigo was our favorite of the three. It’s a combination of pork and chicken, with a flavorful sauce that goes really well with rice.

The Valenciana was okay. The portion was generous, although the chicken was a little dry during our visit. Still, there was plenty to share.

The Kare Kare was also good. Nothing particularly unique, but the sauce was flavorful and the dish was done well.

We also appreciated the attentive service from the staff, which hopefully remains consistent as the restaurant gets busier.

Overall, Abuela Cinco’s Kitchenette is a good new option if you’re looking for affordable Filipino food in Imus. Nothing overly fancy, but the food is familiar, reasonably priced, and satisfying, definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. 🇵🇭🍽️

Little Quiapo

Little Quiapo is a Filipino restaurant known for classic comfort food and traditional favorites. Their BF Resort branch has a warm, homey atmosphere that makes it a nice spot for a casual Filipino meal.

• Kare Kare
• Lumpiang Shanghai
• Bihon

⭐ FOOD RATING: 8.5/10
📌 Worth it? Yes

OUR VERDICT:
It was our first time visiting Little Quiapo’s BF Resort branch. We used to be regulars at their BF Homes branch whenever we were craving good Kare Kare, so we were excited to try this location.

If there’s one Filipino dish I really love, it’s Kare Kare, and Little Quiapo’s version is definitely one of my favorites. A visit here wouldn’t feel complete without ordering their classic Kare Kare. The sauce was rich and flavorful, and it paired perfectly with the bagoong and rice.

We also tried the Lumpiang Shanghai. Nothing particularly special, but it was crispy, tasty, and still a good addition to the meal.

I’m personally not a big fan of Pancit Bihon, but I actually enjoyed their version. It was flavorful and had a good balance of ingredients.

Overall, Little Quiapo remains a solid choice for Filipino comfort food. The dishes are well-executed and the restaurant has a cozy, inviting atmosphere. My only comment is that the food can be on the pricier side, but if you’re craving classic Filipino dishes, especially Kare Kare, it’s definitely worth considering.

Tomo Japanese Dining

Tomo Japanese Dining is a Japanese restaurant that offers a wide selection of classic and creative Japanese dishes in a beautiful, Japanese-inspired setting. The garden-like surroundings and interiors make the dining experience feel like a little escape to Japan.

• Kinoko Salmon Wafuu Pasta
• Katsudon
• Spicy Tuna
• Tomo Special Maki
• Ebi Tempura
• Uni Donburi
• Chawan Mushi
• Yakimeshi

⭐ FOOD RATING: 9/10
📌 Worth it? Yes

OUR VERDICT:
Photos are from multiple visits from way back, which says a lot about how much we enjoy coming back to Tomo.

On one visit, we had the Kinoko Salmon Wafuu Pasta, Katsudon, and Spicy Tuna. Everything was good, but the pasta was my favorite! It has three kinds of mushrooms, salmon, and a creamy sauce, all things I love in one dish.

On another visit with mom, we tried their Tomo Special Maki, Ebi Tempura, Uni Donburi, Chawan Mushi, and Yakimeshi. The Uni Donburi was my favorite that time because I absolutely love uni. Mom enjoyed the Chawan Mushi and Yakimeshi, while the Tomo Special Maki was another standout.

Aside from the food, I really like the ambiance here. The Japanese-inspired interiors and garden make you feel like you’ve been transported to Japan. 🇯🇵

Tomo is definitely one of the nicer Japanese restaurants in the area. We’ve even celebrated my birthday here before, and it remains one of our go-to spots whenever we’re craving Japanese food.

Throwback to Taiwan 2023 🇹🇼✨
Hands down the best mochi we’ve ever had! Freshly hand-rolled, super pillowy, and I’m still craving it up to now. If anyone is heading to Taiwan soon, please bring some back for me! 🙏🏻🍡

Hello, Earl! is a cozy neighborhood spot serving creative comfort food and drinks. Honestly, we didn’t expect to find something this good hidden in that area, but it turned out to be such a pleasant surprise!

• Black Sesame Milk
• Matcha Latte

📌 Worth it? Yes

OUR VERDICT:
We found Hello, Earl! while looking for somewhere to eat and seeing it on social media. We weren’t expecting much, but we were genuinely surprised, everything we tried was good, portions were generous, and the prices were very affordable for the quality.

The Sunrise Chicken was crispy, and the orange miso glaze was the perfect match. I also loved the peanut butter coleslaw that came with it. The Niu, their braised beef noodle soup, was flavorful with a nice hint of spice. The Red Jade Pork was tender and slightly sweet, with a serving good enough for sharing.

The drinks were just as enjoyable. Mom loved the Cereal Milk Barako, the strong Barako coffee worked surprisingly well with the cereal milk. The Black Sesame Milk was also good, while my Matcha Latte was light and nicely balanced. I liked that they let you choose whether you want your matcha sweeter or more matcha-forward.

Overall, this was one of those unexpected finds where everything just worked. Great food, generous servings, good drinks, and very reasonable prices. Our only wish is for a bigger space so more people can discover this little gem.

Daily Best Claypot is a casual restaurant specializing in claypot rice dishes, serving hearty meals with flavorful meats, rice, and fresh vegetables. It’s a cozy spot if you’re craving a comforting and satisfying meal.

• Pork Ribs Claypot

📌 Worth it? Yes

OUR VERDICT:
Finally got to try Daily Best Claypot, and thankfully, the food did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying, with the claypot rice being the highlight of the meal.

The Pork Belly Claypot was tender and flavorful, with a good balance of meat, rice, and fresh vegetables. What I really enjoyed was the combination of the savory sauce with the fresh, crunchy greens on top, it added a nice contrast to the rich pork.

The Pan Fried Dumplings were also really good. They had a slightly crispy bottom while remaining soft and juicy inside. I also liked that they were served with a fried egg as the base, which made the dish even more satisfying.

For a leaner option, we tried the Pork Ribs Claypot. It had similar flavors to the pork belly but with less fatty meat, making it a good alternative if you prefer something lighter.

Unfortunately, quite a number of items on the menu were unavailable during our visit, so we weren’t able to try some of the other dishes we were looking forward to. Still, what we had was enough to make us want to come back and explore more of the menu.

Overall, Daily Best Claypot is a good spot for flavorful and comforting claypot rice. 🍚
