The Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) is an independent government agency fully committed to combating money laundering and helping preserve the integrity of the financial system. It is the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Republic of the Philippines, created pursuant to Republic Act No. 9160, otherwise known as the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2011 (AMLA), as amended by Republic Act No
s. 9194, 10167, 10365, 10927, and 11521. MANDATE
To implement the provisions of the AMLA, the Terrorism Financing Prevention and Suppression Act of 2012, and certain provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020. VISION
To be a world-class financial intelligence unit that will help establish and maintain an internationally compliant and effective anti-money laundering regime which will provide the Filipino people with a sound, dynamic and strong financial system in an environment conducive to the promotion of social justice, political stability and sustainable economic growth. Towards this goal, the AMLC shall, without fear or favor, investigate and cause the prosecution of money laundering offenses. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Benjamin E. 2. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairperson Emilio B. Insurance Commission (IC) Commissioner Dennis B. Funa. It acts unanimously in the discharge of its functions. The AMLC’s chief executive officer is Executive Director Mel Georgie B. Racela. The AMLC consists of 3 main operating units:
1. Office of the Executive Director (OED);
2. Detection and Prevention Department (DPD); and
3. Investigation and Enforcement Department (IED).
