𝗜𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶 𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝘀𝗶 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮—𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗱𝗼. Walang time-in, walang time-out, pero may sahod. Sa isang bansa kung saan bawat pisong kinikita ay pinaghihirapan, paano nagiging normal ang ganitong sitwasyon? Paano nagiging katanggap-tanggap na ang isang halal na opisyal ay maaaring hindi pumasok, pero buo pa rin ang kita?

Milyon-milyong Pilipino ang walang ganitong pribilehiyo. 𝘼𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙟𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙣𝙚𝙮 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙖𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙪𝙗𝙤𝙨 𝙣𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙡 𝙨𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙤𝙮 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙩𝙖𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙮𝙤 𝙣𝙜 𝙜𝙖𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖. 𝙈𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙗𝙖 𝙣𝙜𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙖, 𝙠𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞 𝙣𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙖𝙞𝙪𝙪𝙬𝙞. Ang mga minimum wage earners ay pilit pinagkakasya ang sahod para sa pagkain, pamasahe, at pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan. Walang absent-absent sa kanila. Isang araw na hindi pumasok, isang araw na walang kita.

At dito mas lalong lumalalim ang tanong: bakit iba ang pamantayan? 𝗦𝗮 𝗽𝗮𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗻, kapag absent ang estudyante, bumababa ang grado, minsan pa nga ay automatic na nada-drop. 𝗦𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗵𝗼, ilang araw lang na hindi pumasok, may warning, may suspension, o tuluyang nawawalan ng trabaho. Malinaw ang consequences— 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝘀𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗯𝘆𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗼, tila may ibang rules para sa iilan. Kung sino pa ang may mas malaking responsibilidad sa publiko, sila pa ang may kakayahang umiwas dito.

Kaya saan lulugar ang hustisya rito? Hindi lang ito usapin ng isang tao, usapin ito ng sistema na tila pumapayag sa ganitong uri ng kawalan ng pananagutan. Kung ang ordinaryong manggagawa ay kailangang magpakita ng sipag at disiplina para sumahod, bakit iba ang pamantayan para sa mga nasa kapangyarihan?

𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙞 𝙚𝙭𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙠 𝙣𝙖 𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙨𝙮𝙤𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙨𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙢𝙜𝙖 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙙. Ang pagiging senador ay hindi titulo—ito ay tungkulin. Kung ang tungkulin ay hindi ginagampanan, may karapatan ang taumbayan na magtanong.

Kung tutuusin, hindi lang ito simpleng usapin ng “absent” na opisyal. Usapin ito ng accountability na tila nawawala sa sistema. Mas masakit isipin na ang pinanggagalingan ng kanilang sweldo ay buwis ng taumbayan. Buwis na galing sa pawis ng mga manggagawa; sa mahabang oras ng pasada ng mga drayber, pisikal na pagod ng mga laborer, at sa pagtitipid ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino. Habang ang mamamayan ay kumakayod para mabuhay, may mga opisyal na tila kayang mabuhay ng hindi nagpapakita ng parehong antas ng pagsisikap.

Hindi ba’t ito ang dahilan kung bakit nawawala ang tiwala ng publiko? Hindi dahil sa kakulangan ng batas, kundi dahil sa kakulangan ng pagpapatupad at pananagutan. Dahil kung ang mga nasa itaas ay hindi man lang maipakita ang basic na commitment sa kanilang tungkulin, paano pa aasahan ang pagbabago sa mas mabibigat na problema ng bansa?

Hindi lang ito tanong para kay Bato, tanong ito para sa buong sistema: hanggang kailan papayagan ang ganitong klaseng pamumuno? Hanggang kailan mananatiling tahimik ang taumbayan habang may mga sumasahod kahit hindi nagpapakita? Kung ang trabaho ng bayan ay pababayaan, hindi lang oras ang nasasayang kundi ang tiwala at pag-asa ng mga Pilipino.

That line says something simple but real about people. Even when things are not okay, we still create. Not always for recognition, not always to impress, but because we need to. That is what makes art feel human.

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 is meant to recognize—not just the “best” works or the most talented artists, but the act of creating itself. Under the theme “𝘈 𝘎𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘛𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘈𝘳𝘵,” art becomes less about perfection and more about presence. A garden is not built overnight, and it is never uniform. It grows through different hands, different stories, and different ways of expression. In the same way, a creative community is formed not because everything looks the same, but because people continue to create despite their differences.

And maybe that is where the meaning of this day really lies. 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆. It creates connection, not by forcing people to understand, but by letting them feel. And in a time where it is easy to feel disconnected, that kind of space matters. Not just for artists, but for anyone trying to be seen, heard, or simply understood.

𝘿𝙖𝙝𝙞𝙡 𝙙𝙞𝙮𝙖𝙣, 𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝙠𝙖𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙠 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙨. 💃🏻✨

Sa lahat ng LUnians na lumalaban pa rin hanggang ngayong weekend—sa mga nag-cram ng isang buong semester sa loob ng isang gabi, sa mga "prayers and stock knowledge" na lang ang dala sa exam, at sa mga dumidiskarte para makarating sa school amidst the crisis—deserve niyo ang bawat pitik!

Whatever the results may be, your effort is what truly matters.

Teachers are not required to report to the campus.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱, 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗳𝘁 🐩🐕🐈🐇

𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟏 marks 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙚𝙩 𝘿𝙖𝙮, a day that reminds us that love for animals should not stop at those we already own, but must extend to those who have none. It is not just about celebrating pets who are safe and cared for, but about recognizing the countless stray, abandoned, and neglected animals still waiting for compassion. This day calls for something deeper than affection. 𝗜𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Helping orphaned animals, supporting shelters, and choosing kindness can improve their health and give them a real chance at adoption and a better life.

But while this day exists to celebrate care and compassion, today’s reality feels disturbingly opposite. Videos of animal abuse are everywhere—what is happening? Animals being beaten, abandoned, and treated as if their lives mean nothing. And what makes it even more unsettling is the irony. Many of these incidents surfaced during Holy Week, involving individuals who openly identify as “religious.” A regular churchgoer involved in abandoning a cat in a sack. Someone harming a cat while performing a religious act. And the case involving a dove speaks for itself. Is this coincidence, or is there a pattern among people who loudly claim faith but fail to show compassion?

Let this be clear: 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. You cannot claim morality, faith, or goodness while inflicting suffering on the most defenseless.

𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝘼𝙣𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝘼𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙨❗

The law is not silent on this. Under Republic Act No. 8485, or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998, as amended by RA 10631, acts of cruelty, neglect, and abuse are punishable by imprisonment of up to two years and fines reaching 100,000 pesos. These are not small offenses. They are crimes.

𝘕𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘦𝘵 𝘋𝘢𝘺 should not just be a celebration. It should be a confrontation. A reminder that how we treat animals reflects who we are, beyond what we say and what we claim to believe. Because at the end of the day, compassion is not proven in words or rituals. It is proven in how we choose to treat lives that cannot fight back.

As the school year draws to a close, let us look back on the significant events that have shaped a semester of commitment—commitment to telling the truth and sharing excellent stories from 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.

To honor the unwavering dedication to integrity and transparency, we proudly present the 4th issue of our digital content series. Ipasa ang exam, 𝙖𝙣𝙤 𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙖?

Are you also risen, LUnians? You should be because it's midterm season again! 🫵🏻 Samahan ang kanya-kanyang “tara” ngayong Abril ng sipag, tyaga, at panibagong koleksyon sa eye bags dahil babati tayo sa mga silid-aralan para sumagot ng exam ❗

Hindi man nakangiti sa pagpasok dahil sa puyat, laging tandaan na answering your examinations is already an achievement. Putting a lot of effort into your academics and studying the syllabus for this term are one step closer to another victory ahead of us. Moreover, always remember that there's still life outside the test papers or questions this season. Don't deprive yourself of having fun and rest when your body is needing one.

Don't abuse your body to study a lot! Your brain will digest more knowledge when you are in the right state of mind. Ikaw rin—baka hindi ka na makapagbigay ng limang pitik with soft moves! 🤨💥
