Today, that same legacy remains at work. As Municipal Information Officer-Designate, he uses his communication expertise to bring the advocacies, activities, and accomplishments of LGU Sta. Margarita to the public – continuing to tell stories from the local community that form part of the larger and vibrant story of Eastern Visayas.

Years of mentoring young journalists brought Dr. Michael Jude T. Casaljay of Sta. Margarita, Samar, into the spotlight. He received the Outstanding Eastern Visayan Award for Media, Journalism, and Communication during the inaugural awards on July 31 at The Tropics, MacArthur Park, Palo, Leyte.

The Department of Tourism Regional Office 8 (DOT-8) organized the awards in partnership with Tingog Party-list. The program honored Eastern Visayans whose work has had a lasting impact in their respective fields.
