Sta. Margarita, Samar โ Recognizing the importance of preparing young people for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) of Sta. Margarita, in partnership with Plan Pilipinas, conducted a life skills training program from September 29 to October 1, 2025.
Aiming to equip the younger generation with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for navigating the digital age, the activity addressed crucial aspects of modern life, encompassing communication, technical writing, disaster readiness, sexual health education, and digital and financial literacy. This holistic approach was designed to foster resilience and provide the youth with the tools necessary to adapt to the evolving demands of the contemporary world.
Experts from diverse organizations facilitated the sessions, sharing their specialized knowledge in each area. The trainers included Mr. Anniver P. Pombo, AC Manager, SOS Childrenโs Village Calbayog; Mercy S. Alvarez, AC Manager, Catbalogan Skills Training Center Inc.; Themotea Oraza, Futuremaker Project Officer, Plan International, Inc.; Mary Jhean E. Lagahit, Cookery Instructor; and, Raelen B. Ongcal, HR and ICT Maintenance Support Staff.
Spearheaded by Plan Pilipinas Program Officer Teresa Conato and LYDO Youth Development Officer Windelyn J. Progella, this collaborative effort is further strengthened by the upcoming launch of National Certificate (NC) II certified TESDA trainings in cookery and food and beverage in October, providing valuable vocational skills to participating youth.
