As part of the celebration of Nutrition Month 2026, St. Paul School of Sta. Maria, Inc. (SPSSM) held a Sandwich-Making Contest, featuring squash as the main ingredient for the sandwich spread. The activity was spearheaded by Mr. Godwin Jerome Reyes, the teacher-in-charge for the month of July.
Parents from Grades 1 to 3 enthusiastically participated in the contest, dedicating their time, creativity, and effort to prepare delicious and nutritious sandwiches. Their creations were not only presented for the judges and teachers to taste, but were also lovingly prepared for their children to enjoy.
The prepared sandwiches were carefully evaluated by the panel of judges composed of Sister Ashane Ann Califlores, SPC, Sister Manilyn Landicho, SPC, and Mrs. Rebecca Mendoza. Each entry was assessed based on its presentation, cleanliness, creativity, nutritional value, quality, and overall taste, ensuring that every sandwich met the standards of a healthy and appetizing meal.
Through activities like this, SPSSM continues to promote healthy eating habits among learners. Our dear principal, Sr Marissa Mendez, SPC, encouraged our children to eat a balanced diet by including foods from the three basic food groups: Go, Grow, and Glow Foods to help them stay healthy, active, and strong.
