We, the BSEd English 1B, extend our deepest sympathy and solidarity to our fellow youth, Mattheo Wovi Jose Y Joaquin, regarding his unjustified arrest and request for justice. No student, no citizen, and no Filipino should ever be subjected to such cruelty, especially when exercising their democratic rights. We recognize the courage it takes to stand up for truth, and we firmly believe that no one deserves to suffer violence and intimidation for speaking out.
Mattheo was ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ๐ฑ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ๐น๐ ๐ธ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป despite serving only as a security marshal for his college and a media personnel during the rally. He was arrested while already severely injured and was detained alongside ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ณ ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐ผ๐๐๐ต, many of whom also bore wounds from the violent dispersal. This ๐ถ๐ป๐ต๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ reflects the systemic ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐๐๐ฒ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ that continues to silence voices of dissent, instead of protecting the rights guaranteed by our Constitution.
With this, the ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฑ ๐๐ป๐ด๐น๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ญ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐บ๐น๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ผ ๐ช๐ผ๐๐ถ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐๐ฎ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ผ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ณ ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ป, and we call for immediate action towards addressing the brutality of the policemen who carried out these arrests.
