Last Thursday, December 4, I was given the opportunity to speak in front of IT students about recalibrating our mindset on dealing with cyber threats.
I took this opportunity with just the expectation of speaking on a simple stage, in front of a few students. I just faced it using my mantra: When an opportunity presents itself, if I have nothing to lose, then so be it!
When one of the organizers confirmed that there will be 300+ estimated students in attendance, it didn't sink in right away. But, when I arrived at the venue, that's when I said to myself: "What the heck did I sign up for? Did I really prepare for this properly?"
What greeted me was a massive auditorium with 1st up to 4th year IT students seated, waiting for my presentation.
It's moments like this that affirms me that The Most High blesses in many ways. I'm not an expert on public speaking. Let alone, this was only my 3rd time speaking to a school/university event. But that didn't stop Him from using me to share what I have with the people there.
Again, I want to say thanks to everyone who made this possible:
Johndave Albasaldo - for being the bridge to this opportunity
Jeph Conde - for connecting me to the organizers
Dey Bandian and Miles Selwyn Valera (organizers) - for giving me this opportunity, for welcoming me, for providing my needs, and ensuring that I was comfortable for the whole event.
And of course, to everyone in attendance from Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Santa Rosa Campus for this event. I'm forever grateful for this moment.
I'm looking forward to be of help to more students or aspiring people who want to enter the field of IT.
