Alice Baguitan: Honest Igorota Vegetable Supplier Returns P3.5 Million, Twice Demonstrates Remarkable Honesty
Alice Baguitan, an honest vegetable supplier from La Trinidad, Benguet, has returned a total of P3.5 million in two separate instances. While in Laoag, Ilocos Norte to deliver vegetables, she discovered P2.7 million inside a bag left behind by two women at a restaurant. Remembering that they mentioned heading to the bus station, Alice tracked them down and returned the cash. Despite being offered a reward, she humbly declined.
Alice shared, "I did not receive the reward since I believe that as a Christian, I just did the right thing and I believe that God rewards me with more blessings."
Remarkably, this was not her first time showing such integrity. Just a year earlier, also in Laoag, Alice returned P750,000 left behind in a tricycle — another testament to her unwavering honesty.
For her extraordinary actions, Alice was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the mayor of La Trinidad. A proud Igorota from Bauko, Mountain Province, her dedication to doing what is right reflects the deeply held "Inayan" values of the Igorot people, serving as an inspiration to her community and beyond.
