Assisian journalists of The Pulse, the school publication of St. Francis High School Inc. in Sariaya, Quezon, held an On-Air Broadcasting Workshop 2026 on Saturday, March 7, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the St. Benedict Room.

Facilitated by The Pulse moderator, Ms. Caila Jean C. Tolentino, together with the organizationโ€™s co-moderator, Mr. Joshua M. Alcantara, and guest speaker Mr. Gerald โ€œWackyโ€ G. Palad of Radyo Kaisahan 107.7 FM, the workshop aimed to equip student journalists with essential broadcasting skills through a casual and open face-to-face session.

โ€œThe aim of this workshop is to guide and provide insightful knowledge about broadcasting to my aspiring student journalists. Parang start lang ito ng pagtatanim ko para magkaroon kayo ng magandang bunga sa mga susunod na school year, at syempre para mas maging equipped kayo sa future if magtutuloy kayo sa field na ito,โ€ as stated by Ms. Tolentino.

Mr. Palad, also known as Kuys Wacky, led discussions on the fundamentals of broadcasting, voice modulation, scriptwriting, news writing, and media ethicsโ€”sharing insights drawn from his experience as an announcer at Radyo Kaisahan 107.7 FM. Through his guidance, Assisian journalists gained practical knowledge on how to broadcast effectively and responsibly on air.

With the conclusion of this workshop, The Pulse looks forward to more opportunities that will continue to nurture the next generation of Assisian broadcasters and journalists, hoping that initiatives like this will become a regular avenue for learning, excellence and growth.

As part of their Community Engagement, Solidarity, and Citizenship (CESC) subject, the HUMSS 12 Girls, under the guidance of Mr. Wendell A. Obnasca, successfully conducted a day-long outreach program in Brgy. Pili, Sariaya, Quezon. The initiative featured a morning cleanup drive and an afternoon community program, with the support of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) members of Brgy. Pili headed by Ms. Bella Bagting, the Franciscan Youth (YouFra) led by Ms. Camille Anchorez and Mr. Cristian Reyes, YouFra Moderator, and the Assisian News and Letters (N&L) headed by Ms. Caila Jean C. Tolentino and Mr. Joshua Alcantara.

The student volunteers began the day with an early morning cleanup drive covering the stretch from Alfamart to the area near the bypass road. The activity focused on collecting litter, clearing walkways, and properly disposing of waste to help enhance cleanliness and promote environmental awareness within the barangay.

In the afternoon, the HUMSS 12 girls organized a community program at the barangay covered court for local children. The event featured interactive games, a storytelling session, and an inspirational sharing segment facilitated by members of YouFra and N&L. The outreach concluded with a feeding program that provided meals to 134 children.

Through initiatives such as this, students gain valuable hands-on experience in leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility while addressing the actual needs of the community. More importantly, these efforts strengthen the partnership between the school and local residents, fostering a deeper sense of civic engagement and citizenship beyond the classroom.

St. Francis High School officially opened its Sportsfest 2026 on Monday, February 9, at the schoolโ€™s covered court, kicking off a week-long series of athletic and cultural competitions involving students from the all departments.

Held under the theme โ€œSFHS Spectrum: Sports and Culture and Arts, Fusion of Movement and Masterpieces,โ€ the Sportsfest brings together competition and creativity, reflecting how Assisians express both strength and skill on and off the court.

The opening ceremony featured a doxology, the Philippine National Anthem, the Assisian Hymn sung by the Brown Franciscan Choir led by Mr. Lance Glennfiddich S. Menjares, and opening remarks by Mr. Wendell A. Obnasca.

Momentum continued with the raising of team flags and the lighting of the Sportsfest torch. The ceremonial flame was lit by Jan Kenneth Oliza, Vinze Alfred Ong, Reisha Daphnee Serenio, and Alyssa Lauren Bueta, officially setting the tone for a week of competition.

The event concluded with remarks by Mrs. Rita Nelia N. Ong, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, while serves as the official opening of the fest.

As the week unfolds, the Sportsfest will continue to bring students together, fostering friendly competition and a sense of unity and sportsmanship.
