From Secret Confessions to Stage Performances: MNHS Valentine’s Celebration

Love and students creativity took center stage as Mianay National High School celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 13 through anonymous confessions and performances from representatives of each grade level.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the anonymous confession activity, where students were given the chance to express their feelings through written messages. These confessions, addressed to friends, classmates, or special individuals, were read during the program, resulting excitement and emotional reactions among the audience.

Adding some fun to the event, each grade level presented a performance prepared by their chosen representatives. The performances showcased students’ talents in singing and dancing keeping the crowd engaged throughout the program.

Students shared that the activities made Valentine’s Day more meaningful, as they were able to express emotions freely while enjoying the talents of their peers. The program emphasized unity, confidence, and student participation.

The celebration ended happily and peacefully, leaving students with memorable experiences that highlighted the spirit of Valentine’s Day within the school.

QUALITY STANDARDS IN MOTION: MNHS D’Black Shadows Gear Up for WVRAA 2026

Preparations are now actively underway for the upcoming 2026 Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet, scheduled on March 16–21, 2026, as the determined and disciplined D’Black Shadows – Pencak Silat Team of Mianay National High School (MNHS) intensifies its efforts through a focused Quality Standard (QS) Presentation.

The QS Presentation highlights the team’s clear goals, organized training system, and strong commitment to excellence. With synchronized routines, structured drills, and consistent practice sessions, the athletes are steadily building both skill and confidence as they represent their school and community in the regional arena.

This meaningful preparation is made stronger through the active and full support of the school principal, Buddy E. Alvarez Jr., whose encouraging leadership and unwavering guidance continue to inspire both coaches and student-athletes. His involvement reflects the school’s shared vision of discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Leading the initiative is Tournament Director Carlito A. Alsagon Jr., together with the Quality Standard Members Niel Villaresto and Janice A. Simbajon, who ensure that all plans and presentations remain aligned with the required standards and objectives.

The coaching staff plays a vital role in strengthening the team’s overall readiness. Wilma C. Bagunoc, coach for the boys, offers firm yet supportive guidance, while Joel E. Alvez, coach for the girls, provides strategic and patient training methods and assisting them is chaperone Catherine L. Elvira. Trainer Jimmy Boy Atadero completes the team by focusing on the athletes’ physical conditioning and holistic wellness.

With strong collaboration, careful planning, and passionate mentorship, the D’Black Shadows continue to move forward with discipline and determination. As the WVRAA Meet approaches, the team stands as a proud symbol of unity, preparation, and quiet strength—proving that true victory begins not only on the mat, but in the quality of effort long before the competition starts.

‎BFP Conducts SERP at Mianay National High School

February 13, 2026 – With the active support of School Principal Buddy E. Alvarez Jr. and SDRRM Coordinator Rosemar Rebaño, Mianay National High School (MNHS) successfully welcomed the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for the formal launch and initial implementation of its master plan, the School Emergency Response Plan (SERP), carrying the theme “Obligasyon sa Bayan, Ligtas na Pamayanan.” Originally a barangay–based initiative, the program has now expanded to include school officers and campus organizations.

Student leaders and officers from various campus groups, including the School Watching Team (SWT) and the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG), actively joined the symposium which ran from 9:30 AM to 12:10 PM.

The activity featured three firefighters of different ranks as resource speakers. SFO5 Llaurderes opened the session by discussing the types of fire and the proper methods of extinguishing flames during fire incidents. SFO1 Billan followed with a presentation on the common causes of fire and practical ways to prevent and control them. The final segment was facilitated by SFO1 Lachica together with fellow BFP officers, introducing the Emergency Medical Response System (EMRS) alongside fire safety awareness. Demonstrations on common injuries and proper bandaging techniques were conducted to equip students with essential first-aid knowledge and prepare them to act as first responders during emergencies and calamities.

After the symposium and under the guidance of the BFP officers, the MNHS School Watching Team began organizing its official structure, involving students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel as designated first responders for school-based emergencies.

This initiative stands as a call to action for the entire school community — that preparedness is not optional, safety is not seasonal, and responsibility does not rest on a single office alone. When knowledge is matched with discipline and cooperation, MNHS does not merely respond to emergencies; it becomes a campus that prevents them. The true measure of this program will not be in attendance sheets, but in readiness, vigilance, and the courage of every learner and educator to act when it matters most.

Mianay National High School Dominates Division Meet 2025 Pencak Silat, Crowned Over-All Champion

Roxas City, Philippines — Mianay National High School took control of the mats and claimed the Over-All Champion title in the Division Meet 2025 Pencak Silat Competition held on November 29, 2025, at City Mall, Arnaldo Blvd., Roxas City. With strong routines and steady wins, the team earned the chance to represent the division in the WVRAA 2026 in Passi City.

Mianay National High School’s athletes came out strong, taking an early lead and keeping the momentum all day. They set the pace, delivering clean routines, sharp movements, and clutch performances that caught the judges’ attention. From powerful tanding matches to polished artistic forms, the team controlled the mats, outplayed the competition, and showed confidence under pressure. Their medal haul proved the strength of a squad that worked as one—stepping up, staying composed, and finishing the meet like true champions.

Mianay National High School’s exceptional medal haul highlighted not only the athletes’ skill, but also the discipline, unity, and heart that powered their victory. As they advance to WVRAA 2026, the community stands united in pride and confidence—ready to cheer them on as they carry the unit and school’s banner to the regional stage.

The Orange Lions and Purple Panthers delivered a heart-stopping opener in the MiNHS Volleyball Girls tournament. The match was filled with intensity, as both sides battled neck and neck, with the scoreboard often tied and the momentum shifting back and forth. In the first set, the Orange Lions pulled through with a 25–23 win, igniting louder cheers from their supporters. The second set brought even more tension, and despite the sudden downpour, the players pushed on with determination. In the end, the Orange Lions sealed the match, 27–25, claiming a hard-fought victory.

Behind the thrilling action were the dedicated officials who ensured the tournament ran smoothly. Leading the team was Tournament Manager Anna Liza Hambala, alongside Assistant Tournament Manager Nery Joy Alejandria, who worked hand in hand to keep the competition fair and organized. At the scorer’s table, Lorena Castañales, Fatima Baltero, Rowena Telesforo, and Marites Villan served as table officials, making sure every detail of the game was recorded with precision.

The excitement doesn’t end here—the tournament continues as the Yellow Tigers face off against the Blue Falcons in the next matchup!

𝐆𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐍: 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 – 𝐌𝐢𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

“Game on!” echoed across the E-Library as MinHS students gathered from September 8 to 11, 2025, for an intense Mobile Legends competition. Teams from different grade levels clashed in a display of skill, strategy, and gamer spirit, all aiming for the coveted championship title.

Spearheading the success of the event was Mary Faith Esteban, SSLG President, who served as the tournament organizer. With her leadership, the matches were carried out smoothly and fairly, ensuring that the players and supporters alike enjoyed every moment of the competition.

Over four days of electrifying matchups, the competition trimmed down from 12 determined teams to the final 2 contenders. Cheers and support from classmates filled the venue, fueling the players’ drive until the very last battle. In the end, the champions emerged, and the official rankings were revealed:

🥉 3rd Place – Altair Ego

The Thunder Lords proved unstoppable, outsmarting and overpowering their opponents to claim the trophy and the title of MinHS Mobile Legends Champions. Congratulations to all the gamers who showcased their skills and sportsmanship!

Badminton fever filled the Mianay National High School grounds as the Singles category of the Elimination Round started last September 9, 2025. Players from different grade levels showcased speed, power, and strategy in each rally, while the crowd cheered and jumped with excitement.

Leading the tournament are Tournament Manager Jehoiakim F. Deondo and Assistant Tournament Manager Framerlyn N. Deondo, backed by Prince Gian Canindo of Grade 12—ensuring smooth and organized matches for all athletes.

After a series of intense games, the finalists for the Singles category have been named. The question now is: Who will be crowned as the Badminton champion at HINAMPANG 2025?

The monthlong celebration culminated in a day of contests and exhibitions on July 31, where students from Grades 7 to 12 showcased their talents, creativity, and knowledge about proper nutrition.

Young Journalists Shine at 2025 DSPC, Secures Spot in RSPC Journey

Roxas City, March 08, 2025 – Young campus journalists from Mianay National High School made their mark at the 2025 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC), earning top spots in various categories and securing a strong path toward the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).

In the Photojournalism category, Franz D. Silvero showcased his exceptional visual storytelling skills, capturing 5th Place under the mentorship of Coach Framerlyn N. Deondo. His keen eye for detail and composition earned him recognition among a competitive field of student photographers.

Meanwhile, in Science Writing, securing 8th Place Marty Josh E. Villan exhibited his ability to translate complex scientific concepts into compelling stories. He was coached by Renelyn F. Olintao.

Adding to the school’s achievements, Ma. Gloria Jarencio took 9th Place in Pagwawasto ng Sipi at Pag-uulo ng Balita, a category that tests precision in editing and headline writing with the guidance of Coach Janice A. Simbajon.

The DSPC serves as a gateway for young journalists to hone their skills and qualify for higher competitions like the RSPC and, ultimately, the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC). With their impressive performances, these student-journalists continue to uphold excellence in campus journalism, proving that their dedication and hard work can take them to greater heights.

The school community stands proud, rallying behind these young talents as they continue their journey toward journalistic excellence.

LOOK | Mianay NHS Pencak Silat Sigmahanon brought home 2 golds, 4 silvers, and 16 bronze medals in the recently concluded 13th Dinagyang Pencak Silat National Inter-School Championship & Open Silat Festival Contest 2025.

The competition was held at Nabitasan Integrated School, Nabitasan, La Paz, Iloilo City, from January 23 to January 26, 2025. Accompanied by their coaches, Wilma C. Bagunoc and Jimmy Boy D. Atadero.

Mianay National High School takes great pride in the outstanding achievements of its athletes, recognizing their hard work, dedication, and excellence in representing the school and the community. Their success is a testament to their perseverance and the unwavering support of their coaches, families, and the local government.
