Lights, Camera, Action: Balay Alibangbang Wings Its Way to Victory
The 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐬 (𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐍) is positively bursting with pride! Its homegrown short film, "𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜," didn't just walk; it flew straight to the top, securing the highly regarded 𝗝𝘂𝗿𝘆’𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 for 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗟𝗘 at the 2nd Bacolod Film Festival (BFF).
The student-produced masterpiece, created by 𝐊𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐨 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 and Istorya Film Creatives, stood above the other finalist films during the festival showcase from November 27 to 29, 2025. This award recognizes the cast's strong, unified performance and is a significant achievement for 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐍𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐬.
The film's core team, led by Director 𝙆𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙍𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙨 (CAAS) and Assistant Director 𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙧 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙖 (CAAS), created a beautiful, yet raw, story. “𝘽𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮 𝘼𝙡𝙞𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙜” tackles a gripping story of survival, following four boys using instinct and wits to navigate Bacolod’s alleys, a project that perfectly highlights the students’ local creativity and talent for powerful storytelling. The team effort showcased strong cooperation among SUNN colleges, featuring key roles by 𝙂𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙘𝙤 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙯 (CICTE), Assistant Production Manager; 𝙒𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙮 𝙇𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙘 (CICTE), as the Director of Photography; 𝙈𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙖𝙝 𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙧𝙖 (CBM), on the Production Design; and 𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙚 𝘼𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙙 (CAAS), one of the members for creating the original soundtrack.
Beyond the ensemble win, the film achieved a phenomenal sweep of nominations, including 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡, 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬, 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥, and 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘.
In his recent post, Director Kyle Ramas poured out his gratitude for the milestone achievement. He was absolutely thrilled to celebrate the team's hard-earned recognition. “𝘛𝘰𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘐’𝘮 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘮 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘺𝘦𝘢𝘳’𝘴 𝘉𝘢𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘥 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘍𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴,” Ramas shared.
He also highlighted the immense dedication and spirit of his teammates and praised the crew for their hard work, patience, and trust, noting that every late night and small sacrifice brought them to this success.
