First time in Siruma ❤️🏝️

29/08/2024

It’s been a year since we decided to return to my hometown and start living in the province. We have two kids, and my first-born son is showing developmental delays, hence the decision to go back so he can socialize more.

I have been away since I graduated High School back in 2007 (forgotten the exact date, remind me if you’re my classmate, lol) so it’s been more than a decade. Sure a lot has changed and some things are still the same in this little town of ours.

Now, we have an internet connection, water lines, and a phone line for Casureco! Though I’d say hopefully, they continue to improve the lines and connections to prevent more disruptions and disconnection. The most notable improvement is the coastal road. I never imagined we’d have a coastal road, making our travel easier and serving as a local tourist destination.

I also noticed that some businesses are thriving, and more SMBs are growing. I hope the government supports these small businesses, as they are also a big contributor to the growth of our community. There are new schools, progressive schools, Vet Clinics, Outpatient Clinics, Banks, Pharmacies, 24/7 Grocery Stores, etc. These are the developments I noticed and am thankful for.

However, I also noticed that certain areas are still the same and heard that some processes are a bit tedious.

1. **Infirmary Clinic** - we all know that life is precious (no doubt), so I do believe it will benefit all of us if the clinic is more equipped. We are far from the city therefore it’s necessary that we have a good hospital facility with Doctors and Nurses available to attend to any emergency. For more context, perhaps they could establish that the infirmary can do blood samples or testing, urine tests, etc. so that patients don’t need to go to another facility.
2. **First Aid seminars:** so that we would know what to do during an emergency, i.e., Heart attack. I mean, yes we can definitely research the internet lol, but it would be better and more accurate if discussed or demonstrated by a medical professional. Ok I can get this elsewhere but what about others?
3. **Municipal Building** - give it a little bit of retouching and work on that garden, will ya? It’s my unpopular opinion, so don’t hate me.
4. **Garbage Collection** - Please paabutin niyo naman sa barangay namin.
5. **Smooth transaction -** I haven't had any issues, but I’ve heard that business permits and similar matters can be a bit of a pain here compared to other towns.
6. **Free or Low-cost Anti-Rabies injection **- We all pay taxes and should be entitled even to this small benefit. Currently, you need to get a barangay indigency, submit it to the municipal, and then pila sa infirmary. Perhaps you can build a better process where a Barangay Captain can endorse his constituents, provide his/her name and phone number, put it in a system, and then the patient can go directly to the infirmary to pila and get their injection. These are long processes that take a lot of time. Time is a resource for people like me and other working individuals. We don’t have a lot of time to do all this, so please make it easier for all of us. - ok I’m venting out here haha!

These are simple things that can get overlooked but could be beneficial. This is just my unpopular opinion based on what I've noticed and experienced so far. Other than that, I’m happy to be here and rooting for our little town. ❤

Life truly is unpredictable. Whenever someone passes away, it serves as a reminder of how precious and fragile life is. Death prompts us to reflect on the importance of living fully, pursuing our passions, traveling, and cherishing meaningful connections.

I think if someone dies happy and fulfilled, it can help comfort the people who knew them. Even though their life was short, knowing they were happy can make it easier for others to deal with their sadness.

I hope that all of us get to live a meaningful life. I hope that we cherish our family, friends, and those close to us. We don’t need to overextend ourselves, but let them know they are cherished and that we acknowledge their existence. I hope we get to truly live life.

Day 2 of 366 (Leap Year)

It can be challenging to distance yourself from those you hold dear, but when they consistently cause you stress, pain, or disappointment, it's reasonable to prioritize your own well-being. Your mental health matters too.
