Dressed in white uniforms, the graduates of Sorsogon State University (SorSU) gathered for their Baccalaureate Ceremony on June 27, 2025, at the Sorsogon Sports Arena, Sorsogon City, honoring their academic milestones and celebrating achievements beyond measure.
Presided over by Most Rev. Jose Alan Dialogo, Bishop of Sorsogon, the Baccalaureate Mass served as a moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection. It marked the culmination of years of academic dedication and personal growth for the Class of 2025 from the four campuses: Sorsogon City, Bulan, Magallanes, and Castilla.
โYou are not entering a world of uncertainty alone. You are being sent forth with hearts strengthened by trials and anchored in the love of Christ,โ Rev. Dialogo said in his homily. He urged the graduates to embody resilience, compassion, integrity, faith, hope, gratitude, humility, commitment to others, and a deep sense of justice and mercyโvirtues that define a true champion in life.
Despite the light rain, the Solidarity Night began with student leaders parading with the flags of their respective colleges. Represented were the College of Business and Management, College of Technology, College of Engineering and Architecture, College of Health and Sciences, College of Teacher Education, and the Graduate School from the Sorsogon City Campus; the College of Agriculture from the Castilla Campus; the College of Information and Communication Technology from the Bulan Campus; and the College of Business, Management, and Education and the College of Fisheries from the Magallanes Campus.
This was followed by the Entrance of Colors by ROTC cadets and the solemn singing of the national anthem, conducted by Arriane R. Duazo, a third-year Bachelor of Physical Education student. The presentation of graduating students, faculty, and non-teaching personnel came next, highlighting the unity and contribution of the entire SorSU community.
An emotional audio-visual presentation set the atmosphere, evoking memories of the graduatesโ academic journey.
โNgunit narito tayoโnakatindigโbuo man o sugatan, pagod ngunit matatag, sa tamang lugar, sa tamang panahon. Hindi tayo nahuhuli, hindi tayo napag-iiwanan. Ito ang ating oras. Ito ang ating sandali,โ emphasized Jaime M. Laura, a graduating Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino, in his Words of Gratitude.
He was followed by Manuel V. Silencio, USC President and Student Regent, who gave the Words of Thanks. Hanggang sa ang ending: Itulog na lang natin โto,โ he said, capturing the struggles and camaraderie that defined their journey.
โIn your moment of success, remember all those persons and the entire community who contributed to who you are now, what you became, even in small ways,โ said Dr. Geraldine F. De Jesus, SUC President III, in her Words of Inspiration. She expressed pride in the graduating class, recognizing their role in shaping the identity and progress of SorSU.
The Entrance of the Torch, carried by marshals, followed as a symbol of knowledge and achievement, as Hannah Sucayan, a graduating Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English put an emphasis on its relevance to their academic endeavors. Soon after, the Candle-Lighting Ceremony transformed the dim arena into a solemn display of light, hope, and gratitude, accompanied by the tribute songs โMapaโ by SB19 and โHandogโ by Florante.
This was followed by the Signing of Uniforms, a tradition marking the end of their academic journey and the memories formed along the way. The atmosphere was made even more emotional by the performance of Lea Salongaโs โJourney,โ rendered by Instrumentos de Cordo.
As the celebration drew to a close, the graduates joined in singing the SorSU Hymn, conducted by Jay Mar J. San Buenaventura, a third-year Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education student, in honor of their Alma Mater. The event ended on a dazzling note as fireworks lit up the night sky, echoing cheers and emotional farewells.
This yearโs Baccalaureate Ceremony stood as an unforgettable milestone, symbolizing the transition of the Class of 2025 toward new challenges, with the memories of their SorSU journey lighting the way forward.
