Despite the inclement weather, Sorsogon National High School commenced its Intramurals 2025 opening program at the Sorsogon Sports Arena on September 10, 2025, showcasing the spirit of sports and athletics.
The program began with the parade of each grade level's athletes, students, and coaches followed by a festival street dance by select STEM students.
In his opening speech, Armando Engay, the schoolโs principal, pointed out how the students and athletes showed the true spirit of being SNHS students for successfully carrying out the opening program amidst the challenge of the weather.
"Itong Intramurals na ito, kahit maulan, kayo ang tunay na bidaโpara ito sainyo. Doon lang tayo sa masaya," he emphasized.
[This Intramurals, even with the heavy rain, you are the real highlightโthis event is for you. Letโs just focus on the joy of this celebration]
Additionally, each grade level presented their yells and the highlight of the program, the mass demonstration of the SNHS students to a medley of Michael Jacksonโs songs.
Rico Estur, the Education Program Supervisor for MAPEH stated that this year's intramurals is one of the most memorable ones so far. He also noted that SNHSโ students and athletes are indeed true symbols of unity and sportsmanship.
"Kayo (students and athletes) ay ang tinaguriang na 'galing bata, galing paaralan'. Isang napaka memorableng event ito sa ating paaralan (SNHS)," Mr. Estur expressed.
[You, (students and athletes), are hailed as the 'galing bata' and 'galing paaralan'. This is truly a memorable event for our school, (SNHS).]
Additionally, the opening program also featured the hoisting of colors, torch and lighting of the urn, oath taking of the athletes led by SNHS Integrated Sports Club President, Vhinz Daniel Jeniebre, and a Dinagyang Festival dance presentation by STEM Equanimity.
Moreover, the winners of each sports category in this year's intramurals will be representing the school in the upcoming City Meet.
