How is Gubat during 1967?

Here are some of the photos taken from international movie in 1967 American television film, “The Longest Hundred Miles” starring actors Doug McClure, Katherine Ross, and Ricardo Montalban. The film also starred several notable Filipino actors including Vilma Santos, Vic Diaz and the great Vic Silayan. Both Diaz and Silayan who played Japanese soldiers in the film were uncredited in the official list of the film’s cast.

The church featured here is St. John the Baptist church in Rizal, Gubat, Sorsogon.

Some also of the scene was shot in Brgy.Bulacao, Gubat according to one of the comment on YouTube.

Ayon sa mga teorya, ang Bulkang Bulusan ay labi ng isang mas malaki at mataas na bulkan na pumutok 36,000 years ago. Sa pagputok ng bulkang ito nabuo ang malaking caldera sa gitna ng Sorsogon, ang "Irosin Caldera" na may lawak na 11-14 kilometro. Ito ang rason bakit ang bayan ng Irosin ay napapalibutan ng mabababang bundok samantalang ang bayan mismo ay nasa patag na lugar. Ang mga bundok paikot sa Irosin ay ang rim ng Irosin Caldera. Samantala ang bayan mismo ay nasa napatag na crater ng gumuhong bulkan. Sa hilagang-silangan (northeast) ng caldera nabuo ang kasalukuyang Bulusan Volcano na sa teorya ay nabuo sa fissure ng dating bulkan.

P.S.: Ang Bayan ng Irosin ay minsan ding tinatawag na "The Only Caldera Town in the Philippines."
P.P.S.: Ang aktibo na lamang sa bulkanismo ay ang Mt. Bulusan. Ang Irosin Caldera ay hindi na aktibo bagama't may geothermal activities pa rin malapit rito.

Ang Irosin Caldera Eruption din ang isa sa may pinakamalakas na pagsabog sa buong Southeast Asia pumapalabingtatlo (13th) na may Volcanic Explosivity Index na 6.
