When I think about my career journey, I realize that some of my greatest leadership lessons didn't come from books or training programs.
They came from the people I worked with.
Some bosses taught me what good leadership looks like.
✅How to trust people.
✅How to communicate with kindness.
✅How to recognize effort.
✅How to make people feel seen and valued.
Others taught me equally important lessons about what leadership should never become.
❌Micromanagement.
❌Lack of empathy.
❌Poor communication.
❌Leading through fear instead of trust.
The truth is, every boss leaves a leadership imprint on us. We either adopt the behaviors that inspired us or consciously choose to lead differently because of the experiences that challenged us.
Every leader we encounter becomes part of our leadership story.
So here's a question I'd love for you to reflect on:
What is one lesson you learned from your former boss that has shaped the way you lead, work, or live today?
I'd love to hear your stories in the comments.
