🕊️🏀 Ang Pagbangon ng Ateneo sa Pamumuno ni Coach Louie Alas

Tahasang inamin ng bagong itinalagang interim head coach na si Louie Alas na napakalaki ng hamong kinakaharap ngayon ng Ateneo Blue Eagles. Matapos ang trahedyang ikinasawi nina Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia at Chukwuemeka Divine Adili sa isang team-building activity sa Aurora, labis na naapektuhan ang koponan—hindi lamang emosyonal kundi pati ang buong programa. Minana ni Alas ang isang koponang nagluluksa, kasabay ng pagbaba sa puwesto ni dating head coach Tab Baldwin habang nagpapatuloy ang mga legal na imbestigasyon.

Malinaw ngunit mabigat ang plano sa muling pagbangon ng koponan: kinansela ang mga overseas training camp at pre-season tournaments, ibinalik sa pundasyon ang kanilang conditioning, at ang mismong basketball practice ay ginagawang bahagi ng kanilang proseso ng paghilom bilang isang pamilya. Hindi lamang ito tungkol sa pagbabalik ng pisikal na lakas, kundi pati na rin sa muling pagbuo ng tiwala, pagkakaisa, at tibay ng pag-iisip. Ayon kay Alas, “Nabakante kami ng isang buwan, and we will slowly make everybody back in physical and mental shape.”

Isa itong mahalagang yugto para sa Ateneo. Higit pa sa mga panalo at pagkatalo, dala ngayon ng Blue Eagles ang responsibilidad na parangalan ang alaala ng kanilang mga yumaong kasamahan habang sama-samang humuhugot ng lakas upang makabangon. Mahirap ang landas na tatahakin, ngunit sa pamumuno ni Coach Louie Alas, pinipili ng koponan na itayo muli ang kanilang pundasyon sa paghilom, pananagutan, at pag-asa. 💙🙏

In an interview before his passing, Rene Baterbonia quietly shared these words:

"Kung hindi lang po kami mahirap, hindi po ako aalis ng Agusan."
