1️⃣ The “Google Meet” link itself

Google Meet is NOT malware.

The Meet call is used for:
• Trust-building (real Google domain)
• Voice + visual authority (they look legit)
• Guided manipulation (“tap this”, “enable that”)

👉 The infection happens AFTER the call starts, when you are instructed to do something.

2️⃣ The real weapon: Remote Access / Spyware apps (Android)

Once on the call, victims are told to:
• “Verify your device”
• “Enable security”
• “Fix an account issue”
• “Install a helper app”

These are usually real apps, abused maliciously.

Commonly abused apps (PH + global cases):

A. Remote control apps
• AnyDesk
• TeamViewer
• AirDroid
• RustDesk
• QuickSupport variants

👉 Once Accessibility Service is enabled, attackers can:
• Tap buttons
• Enter PINs
• Navigate banking apps
• Disable security

B. Spyware / RATs (Remote Access Trojans)
• Cerberus
• Anubis
• BRATA
• Hydra
• SpyNote

These are often disguised as:
• Government verification app
• Bank security update
• Google Play Protect extension
• eGov / eWallet support app

3️⃣ The MOST dangerous permission: Accessibility Service

This is the real killer.

When enabled, malware can:
• Read EVERYTHING on screen
• Capture keystrokes
• Approve transactions
• Bypass app security
• Auto-grant permissions
• Watch biometrics being used

⚠️ This is why NO OTP is needed
⚠️ This is why banks log it as “authorized”

4️⃣ Why the screen turns white or freezes

This is intentional:
• Malware displays a fake overlay
• Hides banking apps underneath
• Records screen silently
• Prevents you from intervening
• Keeps running even if Wi-Fi is off (uses mobile data)

This is a known tactic in banking trojans.

5️⃣ How they drain everything so fast (5–6 minutes)

Once inside:
1. Email reset → controls bank recovery
2. E-wallet PIN captured
3. Biometrics observed live
4. Credit card cash advance
5. Instant transfers to mule accounts
6. Loans activated under your name

Banks see:
✔ Correct device
✔ Correct biometrics
✔ Correct app flow

So disputes fail.

6️⃣ Why this mostly hits Android (not iPhone)

Android
• Allows Accessibility abuse
• Allows sideloading
• Allows overlays on top of apps

iPhone
• No Accessibility abuse at this level
• No background app control
• Strict sandboxing
• No sideloading (by default)

That’s why the story says “this may not have worked on iPhone” — that’s accurate.

7️⃣ Bottom line — the exact “tools” used

Not one app. A stack:
• ✔ Social engineering (call + authority)
• ✔ Legit app (Google Meet)
• ✔ Abused remote-access app OR trojan
• ✔ Accessibility Service exploitation
• ✔ Screen recording + overlay malware
• ✔ Email takeover for recovery control
• ✔ Money mule networks for cash-out

8️⃣ One rule to remember (this saves you)

The moment ANYONE asks you to install or enable something while on a call — YOU ARE ALREADY IN A SCAM.

Hang up. Power off. Uninstall immediately. Factory reset.
