The Knowledge Resource Center (KRC), led by its dedicated personnel together with the officers of the Page Turners Club and under the supervision of the School Librarian Maโam Ruth G. Silverio, spearheaded the celebration of the 91st National Book Week and 35th Library & Information Services Month on November 28, 2025, at the South Cotabato State College Gymnasium. With the theme โLACE-UP: Libraries โ A Hub for Cultural Exploration and Unity Through Partnership,โ the event highlighted the vital role of libraries in fostering culture, connection, and community.
Guest speaker Arvin M. Tejada, RL, emphasized the importance of reading across mental, physical, and emotional dimensions. He challenged the audience with thought-provoking questions: โWhen was your last read for information?โ and โWhen was your last read for yourself?โ He underscored that โreading is not just about the mind, but also about the heart that processes.โ
The celebration also showcased a lineup of engaging competitions, including interpretative dance, extemporaneous speech, book spine, book face, and book character parade. These activities, participated in by different academic programs of SCSC, strengthened student engagement, promoted cultural appreciation, and empowered partnerships within the academic community.
