𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐒𝐍𝐒𝐔 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬

To guide graduates, alumni, and walk-in applicants in securing job opportunities, Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), led by the SNSU Placement Office, successfully conducted a Job Readiness Orientation on January 5 and a Job Fair on June 6, 2025, at the SNSU Gymnasium. This initiative, organized in partnership with private and local recruitment agencies, spanned various fields, including medicine, construction, hotel and restaurant management, education, and agriculture.

Several agencies offered on-the-spot hiring for applicants who qualified after submitting their resumes and passing the interview process. Participating companies included SURIGAO MEDICAL CENTER, CORALES DEPOT CORPORATION, CACAY AGRIVATE STORE, QQ ENGLISH, SUZUKI SERVICE CENTER, B-ZEM, BUILDNET CONSTRUCTION, JBE AUXILIARY CORPORATION, A.T DUMLAO CONSTRUCTION, EQUI-PARCO CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, GICAR CONSTRUCTIONS, EVENPAR CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, GOLDEN DYNASTY MANPOWER SURIGAO, DIMENTION-ALL MANPOWER, STAR WORLD INTERNATIONAL MANPOWER AND PLACEMENT AGENCY, JB NATURE FARM AND RESORT, BRAVO BEACH RESORT SIARGAO, ONE HIVE HOTEL SUITES, and GAISANO CAPITAL SURIGAO.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐒𝐍𝐒𝐔 𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐂 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐀𝐀𝐓𝐈 2025

Demonstrating discipline, skill, and commitment to excellence, the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) ROTC Unit made a strong performance in the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) for CY 2024–2025, held at Surigao City National High School. The event commenced with welcome remarks from NSTP Director Ireneo C. Plando Jr., MIE, DTE, followed by the formal Turn-Over of Command and Control from LTC Romel C. De La Cruz PA (RES), SNSU Commandant, to LTC Michel G. Mortejo GSC (INF) PA, Chairperson of the RAATI Team CY 2025.

The RAATI inspection team evaluated cadets through a series of rigorous activities, including Close Order Drill, Map Reading, Field Stripping, First Aid, and a Comprehensive Examination, among others. SNSU ROTC's outstanding overall performance of 93.6% is a testament to their intensive training, leadership, and unwavering dedication to national service—marking another milestone in their pursuit of building a world-class military reserve force.

Surigao Del Norte State University honored the outstanding achievements of students who received awards beyond the academic field on May 16, 2025, at the SNSU Gymnasium. The event carried the theme: “Stepping Forward with Purpose: Honoring Passion Beyond Academics.” The crowd was then welcomed with an inspiring message from the College of Teachers Education Dean, Dr. Carmelin P. Mosa.

The recognition program was a truly fulfilling experience for the students, as their hard-earned achievements were acknowledged by the institution. The atmosphere came alive as each student proudly walked on stage to receive their certificate or recognition, personally awarded by faculty and staff. To close the program, the Director of Student Affairs, Maria Fe C. Guerra, congratulated the awardees, stating, "Their achievements are just as vital as academic achievements.

Today’s event was more than just a ceremony—it was a celebration of diversity and excellence. It served as proof that even beyond academics, SNSUans can shine. This event also highlights the university’s strong commitment to empowering students in every field.

Isinagawa ngayong ika-anim ng Mayo, sa Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU), ang isang makasaysayang konsultasyon at balidasyon para sa binubuong Ortograpiyang Surigawnon—isang proyektong wika na layong buuin at patibayin ang pamantayang pagsulat ng wikang katutubo sa Surigao del Norte.

May temang “Pagplastar sa Sakto na Pagsuyat: Ipabilin an Sinultihan na Surigawnon”, ang naturang aktibidad ay nilahukan ng mga kinatawan mula sa Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF), Department of Education (DepEd), mga Local Government Units (LGUs), mananaliksik sa wika, at lokal na mga historyador. Layunin nitong kolektibong suriin, kilatisin, at linangin ang nilalaman ng sampung kabanata ng isinusulat na Ortograpiyang Surigawnon sa pamamagitan ng serye ng open forum pagkatapos ng bawat presentasyon.

Ang aklat ay isinulat ng pangunahing awtor na si Dr. Eliza E. Bayang, kasama ang co-awtor na si Ms. Merdolyn B. Canda-Lloren. Naging katuwang naman sa pag-eedit sina Ms. Pilmore M. Causing at G. Denzel Mark A. Ciruela, LPT, MAEd-FIL, habang dumalo rin bilang mga tagapayo at editor sina G. Earvin Christian T. Pelagio (Senior Language Researcher) at G. Christian D.S. Nayles (Katuwang Pampananaliksik mula sa KWF).

Binigyang-diin ni Ms. Canda-Lloren ang kahalagahan ng pagtanggap ng puna mula sa mga tagapakinig upang higit pang mapabuti ang nilalaman ng ortograpiya.

"They will be the ones to comment if they will see inconsistencies on the content of the book. They can react after the presentation."

Saad din niya na isa rin sa mga layunin ng forum ang pagtutulak ng LGUs na gamitin ang Ortograpiyang Surigawnon sa mga klase at opisyal na komunikasyon ng pamahalaan.

"If there are comments from the LGUs, say for example, the provincial government would like to turn this into ordinance mandating Surigaonons to use this in classes, in the government, that's the aim."

Sa kabuuan, ang nasabing konsultasyon ay hudyat ng isang panibagong yugto sa pagpapaunlad at pagpapanatili ng wikang Surigawnon. Habang patuloy ang pagsasapanahon sa mga puna at mungkahi, ang proyektong ito ay nagsisilbing patunay na ang wika, bilang kaluluwa ng kultura, ay dapat pangalagaan, paunlarin, at ipasa sa susunod na salinlahi.

The College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) of SNSU proudly lit up the SNSU Gymnasium on May 2, 2025, with its spectacular Celestial Soirée, themed “A Symphony of Gratitude, Dedication, and Triumph.” The evening began with a solemn and reverent tone through the invocation, the Philippine National Anthem, and the SNSU Hymn. The powerful opening was followed by a captivating Gender Awareness Campaign led by the dynamic Engr. Gracechell M. Pascua and an enlightening discussion on Waves TBI. The atmosphere brimmed with elegance and anticipation as CEIT’s esteemed faculty, student organizations, and officers made their grand and graceful entrance. Engr. Lucilyn C. Borja extended a warm, heartfelt welcome, while Dr. Analyn S. Morite’s inspirational address set the tone for a night bursting with purpose and pride.

The Gala Night emerged as the shimmering highlight of the celebration, transforming the venue into a majestic showcase of brilliance, unity, and joy. Dressed in their finest, CEIT’s faculty and student leaders entered with confidence and charm, exemplifying the college's unwavering spirit. The night was further enlivened by vibrant dance and vocal performances, a dazzling crowning of the Celestial King and Queen—including a heartfelt special award for LGBTQ+ members—and the proud recognition of outstanding CEIT organizations for their dedication and hard work. A mix of thrilling raffle prizes, a delightful shared dinner, and an electrifying live band performance added layers of excitement to this already unforgettable night.

Far more than just an evening of fun, the Celestial Soirée served as a radiant celebration of CEIT’s identity, uniting students, faculty, and staff in a festive symphony of gratitude, achievement, and togetherness. Surigao City, Philippines – A significant initiative in financial literacy education was undertaken at Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) City Campus on May 2, 2025, through a seminar presented by Finwaze Philippines. The four-hour program, conducted at the SNSU-City Campus Academic Hall from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN, was specifically designed for first and second-year students. The event fostered an atmosphere of focused engagement and empowerment, marked by the students' active participation throughout the seminar.

Two expert speakers from Finwaze Philippines presented key concepts. Mr. Thomas Ashok Matthew, Financial Market Trader and Consultant to Finwaze Philippines, emphasized the critical importance of financial literacy, highlighting responsible financial habits and effective liability management. His address included the memorable, if unconventional, advice: "Put the ML thoughts away. To be financially successful, you must put your mind into one woman only. In short, you must focus on the significant effect of proper finance and make an effort into not letting yourself be distracted by games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang."

Mrs. Sharon Ibarra, Forex Trader and CEO of Finwaze Philippines, provided a comprehensive overview of forex trading, detailing its definition, concept, significance, and practical applications. She stated the market's global prominence, noting that "Forex Trading is considered to be the most liquid financial market globally," and offered the insightful counsel: "The earlier you understand money, the earlier you control your future."

The seminar facilitated substantial interaction, with students actively engaging in question-and-answer sessions. Mrs. Ibarra further personalized the learning experience by offering detailed advice, particularly on effective trading. The program concluded with a strong call to action, encouraging the adoption of responsible financial practices.

The optimistic feedback received demonstrates the seminar's considerable impact on the students' understanding of personal finance, equipping them with valuable skills for informed financial decision-making in the future. This initiative underscores the crucial role of financial literacy programs in empowering young adults.

‎Candidates vying for Surigaonon's vote gathered at the Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) City Campus Gymnasium on April 28, 2025, to present their platforms and visions to the public, as part of the 2025 Candidates’ Forum themed, “One ballot, Juan vote" which aims to promote transparency, accountability, and voter engagement.

‎Organized by the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines–Surigao del Norte Chapter, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, Rotary Club of Surigao Midtown Jewels, PICPA Surigao del Norte, Surigao Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and SNSU, and supervised by COMELEC Surigao del Norte, the forum aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and voter engagement in the upcoming May elections.

‎Governor Bingo Matugas and Vice Governor Constantino Bully Navarro IV joined the event virtually via Zoom, while key candidates including Congressman for District 2 Atty. Jun Jun Egay, Mayor Paul Yves Dumlao II, Vice Mayor candidates Atty. Cacel Rojo Azarcon, Atty. Alfonso Cassura, and Antonio "Mamyrich" Lagrama were present onsite alongside their board member aspirants.

Noreen Xavier Argente brought pride to the Caraga Region after winning a gold medal in the Karatedo Kumite 68kg category and a silver medal in the Karatedo Individual Kata event during the SCUAA Games 2025.

Argente demonstrated exceptional skill and determination under the guidance of her coaches, Mr. Romel C. Dela Cruz and Mr. Edmund Argente. Representing Region XIII, she showcased her prowess in both events, earning accolades for her outstanding performance.

Her victories added to the growing medal tally of the Caraga Region delegation, solidifying their strong presence in this year’s competition.

An Orientation on Responsible Voting” was conducted on April 25, 2025, at the SNSU Gymnasium, aiming to guide first-time voters on the importance of informed and responsible participation in the electoral process.

The event featured engaging talks from COMELEC’s Atty. Jeanette M. Cubillan and Rev. Fr. Denish L. Ilogon DCS, who highlighted the value of ethical voting and youth involvement in shaping the nation. Voting is more than shading a ballot—it is a declaration of hope, accountability, and belief in change.

As future leaders and catalysts of change, the youth carry the power to shape the nation with every conscious vote cast. Through this initiative, students will not just to know their rights, but to own their voice. With honesty, integrity, and purpose, we could be able to elect leaders who will guide the nation toward growth and fairness. Be informed, take a stand, and vote wisely, as each vote can make a real difference.

𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣 2025: 𝙋𝙖𝙜𝙙𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙣𝙜 𝙂𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙖𝙩 𝘿𝙞𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙈𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙖 𝙣𝙜 𝙆𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙎𝙉𝙎𝙐𝙖𝙣

Isang makulay at makabuluhang umaga ang sumalubong sa mga mag-aaral, g**o, at panauhin ng Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) sa ginanap na "Buwan ng Panitikan 2025" na may temang "Sikad Panitikan: Kultura at Panitikan ng Kaunlaran". Isa itong pagtitipon na naglalayong ipamalas ang husay, talino, at galing ng mga mag-aaral sa iba’t ibang larangan ng sining at komunikasyon.

Pinangunahan ito ng Kapisanan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Filipino (KAMAFIL) ngayong Abril 25, 2025 sa Academic Hall. Nagsimula ang programa sa pamamagitan ng doxology at pag-awit ng Pambansang Awit, kasunod ang SNSU Hymn na inawit ng SNSU Chorale. Nagbigay sigla sa mga dumalo ang Opening Salvo na isinagawa ng KAMAFIL Officers, na sinundan ng pambungad na mensahe mula kay Dr. Ronita E. Talingting, Campus Director.

Ang programa ay pinangunahan ng mga tagapagdaloy na sina G. Patrick Paas at Bb. Evan Pearl Galanida. Nagpakitang-gilas ang SNSU Chorale sa kanilang intermission number ng isang kahanga-hangang awitin, bago ang Pampasiglang Mensahe mula kay Dr. Eliza E. Bayang, SWK Director. Itinampok rin ang Rationale ng Gawain sa pamamagitan ng makabuluhang video message mula kay Kgg. Arthur P. Casanova, Tagapangulo ng Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF). Mas pinasigla pa ng isang masiglang sayaw mula sa mga mag-aaral ng BEED ang programa, bago ipahayag ang inspiradong mensahe ni Maria Fe C. Guerra, Director for Student Affairs.

Isa sa mga tampok na bahagi ng programa ang Serye ng Presentasyon, kung saan nagtanghal ang mga mag-aaral mula sa iba’t ibang antas ng BSED-Filipino Program. Kabilang sa mga pagtatanghal ang mga sumusunod:

• Kontemporaryong Sayaw (BSED-Filipino 1B)
• Makalumang Sayaw sa Makabagong Yugyog (BSED-Filipino 2B)
• Pangmadlang Sayaw (BSED-Filipino 4B)

Sa kasukdulan ng programa, inilunsad ang Paglalahad ng Patimpalak na may anim na kategoryang sinalihan ng mga piling kalahok:

• Utak Pinoy – Paligsahan sa talas ng isipan
• Sanaysulat – Labanan ng husay sa panulat
• Poster Making – Likha ng malikhaing isipan
• Sing-Galing – Paligsahan ng husay sa pagkanta
• Contemporary Dance – Sayaw sa ritmo ng makabagong panahon
• Spoken Poetry – Pagtatanghal ng damdamin sa pamamagitan ng tula Tunay na naging makabuluhan at matagumpay ang Pasiklaban 2025—hindi lamang bilang isang patimpalak, kundi bilang isang selebrasyon ng wika, sining, at kulturang Pilipino. Mula sa siglang ipinamalas ng bawat kalahok hanggang sa inspirasyong hatid ng bawat mensahe, ang araw na ito ay naging patunay ng walang kapantay na talento ng kabataang SNSUan. Isang pasiklab ng galing, sining, at diwa—ito ang Pasiklaban 2025!
