Four generations. One lineage. A living legacy of law.

On August 22, 1863, in Malinao, Albay, my great-grandfather Marcial Casitas Calleja was born.

He became a lawyer, legislator, delegate to the Malolos Congress, educator, and founder of the first law school in Albay. His son, Ambrosio Calleja, represented Albay’s First District at the 1934 Constitutional Convention that drafted the 1935 Constitution. His grandson, Pompeyo Belen Calleja, practiced law with dedication until his passing in 1990.

Today, that legacy continues through two of Marcial’s great-grandsons: Atty. Howard Maceda Calleja, one of the nation’s foremost election lawyers, and Atty. John Paulo Roberto A. Calleja, Managing Counsel of Calleja Law – Legazpi.

Here in Albay, the tradition of service and excellence is further strengthened by Atty. Frezalva Vir Calleja Burce, Partner, who also proudly traces his roots to the Calleja family of Malinao.

From Marcial to Ambrosio to Pompeyo Belen to Howard and myself, and now joined by Frezalva Vir, the Calleja name has stood for more than 160 years of law, service, and legacy.
