On August 29, 2025 at the San Lorenzo covered court, principal of Catholic Central School of Tabaco, Albay, Inc. (CCSTAI), Mr. Elmer Bongon, took part in the Handog-Kultura ng SDO Para sa Buwan ng Wika: Search for Kisig Pinoy at Gandang Pinay 2025 hosted by the Schools Division Office of Tabaco City. The school head took home the 2nd Runner-Up Kisig-Pinoy title as well as the Pinakamagandang Kasuotang Pilipino award.
In an interview with Saldang, Bongon shared that he felt a mix of emotions during the said event, โ[I felt] nervous yet proud to represent the private schools especially CCSTAI- tense yet excited, unsure yet brave. Thereโs the rush of anticipationโfixing our outfit, practicing our walk, and imagining how it feels to stand on stage with all eyes on you. Your heart beats faster, torn between nervous jitters and the thrill of finally taking the spotlight.โ Bongon also shared that representing CCSTAI at the event brought a sense of Filipino pride, carrying one's culture, values, and identity in front of others by showing talent, wit, and character. โThereโs pressure, yes, but it comes with a surge of confidence: the belief that you, too, can stand tall and represent what being a Kisig-Pinoy truly means. At the same time, thereโs a feeling of camaraderie with fellow candidatesโsharing laughs backstage, calming each otherโs nerves, and realizing youโre all part of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the end, it feels like a journey of self-discoveryโovercoming fears, embracing confidence, and celebrating the proud spirit of being Pinoy educators [or] school administrators,โ he adds.
