๐๐ข๐ข๐ | 246 student- nurses mark beginning of clinical journey
The Saint Tonis College, Inc. โ College of Nursing (STCI-CON) celebrated a major milestone with the successful staging of its 18th Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony for 246 student nurses of the Batch Vanguard on December 11, 2025, at the Peopleโs Gym, Dagupan Centro.
For many attendees, especially the studentsโthe event stood out as one of the most memorable and meaningful days of their nursing journey. The ceremony highlighted time-honored traditions that formally usher student nurses into the clinical phase of their training.
As explained during the event, the capping and pinning rites symbolized their readiness to take on real-world responsibilities in patient care, marking the transition from theoretical learning to hands-on practice.
The candle lighting, meantime, is inspired by the legacy of Florence Nightingale which serves as their pledge to uphold compassion, service, and the enduring light of the nursing profession.
In her talk, guest speaker Floydelia Diasen underscored the importance of values that go beyond clinical skills, reminding the students that true nursing is grounded in humanity.
She emphasized that โnursing is not only about what you do, but how you care,โ highlighting tend loving care, sympathy, and empathy as essential qualities every nurse must embody.
According to her, these values allow nurses to connect deeply with patients and provide care that heals not only the body, but also the spirit.
In said ceremony, the student-nurses were likewise reminded of the responsibilities and professional values they are expected to carry forward as they begin their clinical journey.
With caps placed, pins received, and candles held high, the Batch Vanguard of 2028 now prepares to enter hospitals and communities as student nurses.
