Ninoy Aquino Day is a special 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 holiday in the Philippines and is held annually every year to commemorate the assassination and 42nd death anniversary of former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr—who was famously known as one of the most vocal critics of the former President, Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

On this day, August 21, 2025, we honor the sacrifices made by former Senator Benigno Aquino as well as his many positive achievements for the Philippines.

St. Scholastica’s College Tacloban Inc.’s (SSCTI) Basic Education Department (BED) – High School (HS) Unit held an Oath-taking, Turnover, and Induction Ceremony for the new set of officers for S.Y. 2025–2026 at St. Ottilien Hall, August 15, 2025.

Commencing the school year with a fresh set of student leaders, an opening prayer, led by Jasmine R. Señora, the Outgoing Grade 11 - St. Hildegard Class Representative, set the event in motion.

To lighten up the mood, the incoming Supreme Student Government (SSG) officers performed their special presentation, “Ikaw and Sunshine Ko, Isang Pamilya Tayo" by ABS-CBN.

Introducing the SSG, the officers then took their oath, showcasing their dedication and passion for becoming rightful leaders of the school.

Followed by the turnover between the outgoing and incoming presidents, Barbra Eve Gemarino, the incoming SSG president, received praise and well-wishes from students as she embarked on a new journey.

Nearing the end of the program, the club and class officers then assumed their responsibilities as they pledged their oath, beginning their new chapter as student leaders.

Closing the event, Hubert Darcy C. Gonzaga, Managing Editor of Hiraya Publication, culminated the gathering with a prayer for a victorious journey for all young leaders.

St. Scholastica's College Tacloban Inc. (SSCTI) Environmental Health and Safety Office conducted a seminar "Environmental Health and Safety 101: Your Campus, Your Move" for the Basic Education Department (BED) High School (HS) Unit at St. Ottilien Hall, August 15, 2025.

Registered Chemical Engr. Mharc Jonaelle R. Son, the Pollution Control Officer of SSCTI, served as the resource speaker and shared significant insights in maintaining campus cleanliness and waste reduction.

The speaker also emphasized that tiny practices such as keeping waste to a minimum will lessen the strain on natural resources and minimize the release of harmful pollutants, greenhouse gases, and help ecosystem preservation.

In addition, he highlighted the differences between biodegradable waste, recyclable waste, and residual waste—all with distinct characteristics that are essential in creating a healthy green environment.

To make the session more engaging, students participated in a game titled "Spin and Win", which featured trivia questions related to the seminar topic as this encouraged critical thinking and allowed participants to share their understanding of environmental health and safety.

The seminar concluded with a reminder that environmental stewardship is a shared responsibility, and by applying the lessons learned, the HS students can serve as role models in their community, inspiring others to adopt sustainable habits and safeguard the planet for future generations.

St. Scholastica’s College Tacloban Inc.’s (SSCTI)’s Basic Education Department (BED) - Grade school unit held Miting de Avance 2025 for the Scholastican Pupil Council (SPC) at St. Ottilien Hall, August 7, 2025.

The event started with an opening prayer followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Introduction of the SPC candidates then proceeded where each share how they would aim to make the Grade School Unit a better place, and how they would take care of the pupils themselves.

A fun icebreaker was also done, followed by a question and answer segment for the young leaders.

The pupils were also given a chance to ask the officers their own question, Grade 6 Pupil, Hanzel Sian E. Remetilla, went up first, eager to ask the questions he had in mind for the leaders.

He asked questions intended for the SLERN President Candidate, Micey Llamelo, and the BAGE President Candidate, Jasmine Belle Baldesco; Both answered with ease, proving they can take care of the school and the community.

The questions asked were filled with thoughtfulness, and the aspiring officers answered with ease and sincerity.

As the event draws to a close, outgoing SPC President, Aaliyah Kimn Yu delivered an emotional speech. Her words deeply moved the aspiring leaders in the room, particularly the candidates vying for the presidency.

The event ended after a prayer.

𝗦𝘁. 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗰. 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆

The Basic Education Department (BED) - High School (HS) Unit hosted an acquaintance party, bringing together students and faculty for an afternoon of fun, camaraderie, and familiarity around the campus at the St. Benedict Grounds, August 1, 2025.

The party began with a doxology presentation from the Scholastican Indak Dance Troupe.

‎The event continued with food from the different grade sections, special dance performances from the teachers and students, and games for the students.

A highlight of the afternoon was the series of classic parlor games that had everyone enjoying—students and teachers joined the games.

Each student then showcased their talent in a vibrant class dancing presentation that entertained the BED faculty and students alike.

The gathering continued with a band presentation from HS Students, exhibiting their talents in music.

The event concluded with an awarding ceremony, wherein several attendees were honored with special awards for their fashion sense and friendly demeanor, recognizing them as "Best Dressed" and "Best Congeniality" of the afternoon.

𝐒𝐒𝐂𝐓𝐈 𝐁𝐄𝐃 - 𝐆𝐒 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲

The Basic Education Department (BED) Grade School (GS) Unit of St. Scholastica's College Tacloban Inc. held its first acquaintance party at the St. Joseph Mini Gym, August 1, 2025.

Anticipation filled the air as pupils from Kindergarten, Grades 1-6 are all excited, bringing their food to share with everybody.

A prayer was offered before the pupils indulged in the mouthwatering food.

Games like stop dance, and bring me were prepared and facilitated by the GS teachers wherein pupils gladly participated in all of these activities.

The party concluded with a prayer after the students finished cleaning up.

Everyone went home bringing the memories made, calling the event a success.

𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗢 1, 2025 || Isinagawa ng SSCTI BED-HS ang selebrasyon ng Buwan ng Wika 2025

Matagumpay na sinimulan ng St. Scholastica’s College of Tacloban, Inc. (SSCTI) – Basic Education Department, High School Unit (HS) ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika na may temang “Ang Paglinang ng Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagbuo ng Bansa" na idinaos sa St. Ottilien Hall, Agosto 1, 2025.

Ang selebrasyon ay sinimulan sa pamamagitan ng isang Banal na Misa na pinamunuan ni Rev. Fr. Patricio de los Reyes, pagkatapos ng Misa ay naglahad naman nang maikling introduksiyon at pambungad na panalangin si Bb. Roselyn Lazar.

Nagbigay rin ng inspirasyonal na mensahe si Sr. Mary Frances F. Dizon, OSB, Punong-G**o ng Basic Education Department, kung saan binigyang-kahalagahan niya ang pakikipagkapwa sa ibang tao kahit sa kabila ng pagkakaiba-iba ng wika, bilang pagpapahiwatig ng pagkakaisa at respeto sa bawat isa.

Ipinakilala rin naman sunod ang mga hurado na magbibigay nang puntos sa bawat baitang sa patimpalak na Sabayang Pagbigkas.

Ang mga huradong ito ay sina Ginoong Vincent Redoña, G**o sa Agham, Bb. Joyce Ann A. Montaño, HS Student Formation and Services Coordinator, at Bb. Cale S. Rama, BED Student Activity Coordinator at Moderator ng Supreme Student Government (SSG), sila ang nagbigay-gabay at nagmasid sa bawat pagtatanghal ng iba't-ibang mga kalahok.

Ang lahat ng baitang mula pito hanggang ika-labing dalawa ay gumamit ng piyesang “Wikang Filipino sa Pambansang Kalayaan at Pagkakaisa” ni Pat V. Villafuerte, na nagpakita ng iba’t ibang estilo at malikhaing paraan ng pagbigkas sa kani-kanilang pagtatanghal.

Nagkaroon rin ng Poster Making Contest na isinagawa sa dating silid-aralan ng baitang ika-sampu, bilang bahagi ng selebrasyon, kung saan ipinamalas ng mga mag-aaral ang kanilang pagkamalikhain at pagpapahalaga sa tema ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa sa pamamagitan nang makukulay at makahulugang likhang-sining.

Sa kabuuan, matagumpay na naipamalas ng mga mag-aaral ang pagmamalasakit at pagpapahalaga sa Wikang Filipino sa makabuluhang paglulunsad ng Buwan ng Wika 2025.

𝗔𝗚𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗢 1, 2025 || Ipinagdiriwang ng SSCTI BED-GS ang pagbubukas ng Buwan ng Wika 2025

Inumpisahan ng St. Scholastica’s College of Tacloban, Inc. (SSCTI) – Basic Education Department, Grade School (GS) Unit ang pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika na may temang “Ang Paglinang ng Filipino at Katutubong Wika: Makasaysayan sa Pagbuo ng Bansa" na idinaos sa St. Ottilien Hall, Agosto 1, 2025.

Nagsimula ang programa sa pamamagitan ng isang banal na misa na pinamunuan ni Rev. Fr. Patricio De Los Reyes, sa kanyang homiliya ay binigyang-diin niya ang kahalagahan ng ating pambansang wika at ang epekto nito sa ating pagkatao.

Pagkaraan, nagbigay naman nang maikling panimula si G. Rodie Mark Anteja, isang miyembro ng komite para sa kaganapan, kung saan ipinaliwanag niya sa mga estudyante kung ano at paano nga ba naging isang makasaysayang pambansang pagdiriwang ang Buwan ng Wika.

Kasunod nito, inihayag naman ni Bb. Christy G. Canayong ang mga aktibidad na dapat sundin ngayong buwan ng Agosto, kung saan isa sa mga aktibidades na ito ay ang katutubong sayaw na inihanda para sa baitang ika-apat hanggang anim.

Sa pagtatapos ng aktibidad na ito, isang pangwakas na panalangin ang isinagawa na pinangunahan ni Bb. Raven M. Natula, na sinundan naman nang pag-awit ng pampaaralang himno at ang paglalaro ng Laro ng Kaalaman sa Sto. Nino Library.
