80th ANNIVERSARY of the 𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗬𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚

On this day 80 years ago, the first parachute landing in the Philippines was executed by the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, 8th Army of the U.S.A.

In the afternoon, they were met by the American forces who had come from Nasugbu, Batangas where they had initially landed. They were ably guided by Filipino guerrillas who had also cleared the area from Japanese soldiers.

From here, the Filipinos and Americans marched northwards towards Manila, facing resistance at the outskirts of Manila. Let us honor the courage of the Filipino guerrillas and their American counterparts which allowed them achieve victory in this place and beyond.

In accordance with Memorandum Order No. 036, s. 2025, issued by President Samson L. Molao, the use of single-use plastic disposable products is strictly prohibited within the university, effective immediately. This initiative aims to uphold cleanliness, orderliness, and environmentally sustainable practices.

The banned items include, but are not limited to, plastic bottles, plastic bags (cellophane), Styrofoam, straws, spoons, forks, cups, coffee stirrers, and other similar disposable products.

To comply with this directive:

• Reusable food service wares must be used in place of disposable plastics.
• Vendors are required to provide water dispensers.
• Students and university personnel must bring their own water containers or tumblers.

All vendors and catering services are expected to fully comply with this policy. Violations will be considered a grave offense and may result in the following penalties:

1. Non-compliant vendors may lose their privilege to operate within the university canteen.
2. Non-compliant catering services may be disqualified from future bidding opportunities.

Vendors are given until January 31, 2025 to comply with this directive.

HAPPY 164th Birthday, Julian Felipe!🎉

Ipinagdiriwang natin ang Araw ni Julian Felipe tuwing Enero 28 bilang pagkilala sa kanyang mahalagang ambag sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. Siya ang kompositor ng pambansang awit na “Lupang Hinirang.”

Si Julian Felipe ay isinilang noong Enero 28, 1861, sa Cavite City. Siya ang lumikha ng “Marcha Nacional Filipina,” na unang tinugtog noong Hunyo 12, 1898 sa pagdiriwang ng Kalayaan ng Pilipinas. Ang martsa ay naging “Lupang Hinirang,” ang pambansang awit na ginagamit hanggang ngayon.

Sa pamamagitan ng Republic Act 7805, idineklara ng Kongreso ang Enero 28 bilang Julian Felipe Day bilang paggunita sa kanyang kontribusyon sa kasaysayan at musika ng Pilipinas.
